Razors Edge ★ Posted June 19, 2019 Share #1 Posted June 19, 2019 ...or are you a "cut them all short at one time" sort of person? I generally cut them all short at the same time, but always seem to need a longer one almost immediately after trimming them Is this a Murphy's Law sort of thing, or a "I should know better by now" sort of thing?

Parr8hed Posted June 19, 2019 Share #6 Posted June 19, 2019 I measure each one with special calipers to ensure uniformity. 1
groupw Posted June 19, 2019 Share #7 Posted June 19, 2019 The nail on my right pinky grows faster than the others. It is out of rotation with the rest of the fingers for 3or 4 clippings

jsharr ★ Posted June 19, 2019 Share #10 Posted June 19, 2019 I chew them off as soon as they get chewing lenght, like any other stressed out person does.
maddmaxx ★ Posted June 19, 2019 Share #11 Posted June 19, 2019 Given the very tiny parts I worked with (back in the day) and those in my hobbies I tend to keep them a bit longer than many do. I have to be able to pick up things I'm using my magnifying goggles to see.

It wasn’t a big deal until it kept splitting up the middle. I have to keep it trimmed so it doesn’t snag and tear back past the quick
sheep_herder ★ Posted June 19, 2019 Share #13 Posted June 19, 2019 I never cut mine to the quick, and thus, always have some nail to scratch, peel, etc.
maddmaxx ★ Posted June 19, 2019 Share #14 Posted June 19, 2019 I can't cut the fingernail on the middle finger of my right hand very short anyway. That's the finger that was almost cut off and the nail is shaped strangely with a very irregular quick.
Square Wheels Posted June 19, 2019 Share #15 Posted June 19, 2019 @12string probably has one hand's nails longer than the other.
MickinMD ★ Posted June 19, 2019 Share #16 Posted June 19, 2019 Sometimes I delay cutting them if I'm going to do something involving some kind of peeling where sliding a fingernail between the pieces speeds things along.
donkpow Posted June 19, 2019 Share #17 Posted June 19, 2019 So basically you want to know if I have a "coke nail"?
Kzoo Posted June 19, 2019 Share #18 Posted June 19, 2019 When I was 5 yo my hands were severely frostbitten. As a result my left hand is smaller than my right and the fingernails on my left hand don't grow as quickly as those on my right. I normally clip the nails that need clipped when I notice one needs clipped. I seldom ever clip all 10 at the same time.
