Tizeye 2,125 #5 Posted July 3 With the porpoise, didn't have telephoto with me so made do with a 55mm (and heavy cropping). The runaway flamingo - thankfully no child was in it which is a HUGE danger. Saw the family with it down the shore, then the wind caught it an no way they could swim fast enough to catch it. If a child had been in it, in about 20 minutes it would have floated past (and a little further out) a Coast Guard Auxiliary station. 9

Tizeye 2,125 #17 Posted July 6 More from the 4th. As a little history, the city gives us free use of the Community Center (typically reserved for $150/day) for photo club meetings and in return, we support city activities such as 4th of July Fireworks, making the photos available to the public. I won't post pictures of kids on rides, but parents know how to get the photos. Gives us access to genre of photography (events in this case) that normally would not do, and special permissions such setting up past the police line for an open direct view and away from the parking lot lights where the public was.

It is a very small town with daytrip intended to see Barberville Pioneer Settlement, but when turned off US17 to SR40 saw the Barberville Yard Art Emporium with about 20 cars parked in front of it. We just had to stop on the way out. You can see both of them from this Google map...and take it down to street view. The only thing I regret (but for a different day - perhaps not cloudy) at the Pioneer settlement was getting a picture of the bridge keeper's house, now serving as the office to purchase tickets. I use to drive through it in the 70's as very unique over the road but never knew what happened when they modernized the bridge. The house and roadway cover was preserved by moving from Astor 6 miles to the pioneer settlement. You can also see the bridge house on Google street view. Some stupid critter keeps digging in my flower pots and pulling out my flowers. I put traps on all the pots and it worked for awhile but the rain ruined the traps and they quit working. Last night the critter got into one of my pots on the pool deck and dug potting soil out all over the deck and ruined my plant.🤬

Tizeye 2,125 #48 Posted July 22 First time I have seen a hydrofoil ski. Why? That Mastercraft ski boat is designed to plane quickly but with the bow high kept a slow speed. Don't know if was the skier learning or a limitation of the ski design.
