I see this foot dragging more and more these days - sometimes by folks (usually men) not wanting to get aggressive about their health and sometimes the stupid ass system where all the hoops & obstacles doctor's offices & insurance companies throw up make it a total drag unless you are prepared to be THE squeakiest wheel. Good luck and get on top of this stuff NOW. It could be a ticking time bomb or a minor nothing burger, but don't wait a second longer than you must.

I thanked her for her service. The secret to speedy service in the ER is to either arrive by ambulance or come in with a bleeding head injury with blood running down from your eyebrow down your face and dripping off your beard onto your hi-vis Jersey. I never have to wait. my wife on the other hand comes in with a brain lesion and is having balance issues and we wait for hours while they take Medicaid patients that came in for a sniffle. Another way to get speedy service is to go to a country hospital that isn’t known for the best care and they are bored with nothing to do. I drove myself there with nothing bleeding just broken rib and separated shoulder but they took me right in. There was nobody in the waiting room.

Diagnosis is a process of elimination. I think what happened yesterday says there is nothing that is going to keel me over tomorrow. And you obviously have never attempted to schedule an appointment with a specialist. Often it's months out. Good thing mine was already scheduled. I wonder if it has to be your own kid or any kid off the street will work? ? Any kid off the street will get you stuck in the special 'detention' room in the ER. The good news is you will have your own armed guard. (prior to 5 to 10 for kidnapping) I took WoKzoo in to the ER a couple years ago when she split her chin during a trail run fall. They were out of regular rooms so they put her in one of the 'prisoner' rooms. Everything was bolted down. There were no supply drawers of cabinets. Everything needed had to be brought in to the room for the DR.

maddmaxx ★ Posted July 9, 2019 Share #67 Posted July 9, 2019 Don't use what the hospital claims as data. You might as well cast bones. For example, when they say you will see a doctor, you will. He's the one in the white lab coat walking across the end of the room to talk to another patient.

I remember when my wife broke her ankle ice skating, I took her to the ER. They actually admitted her pretty quickly. The first doctor to look her ankle over seemed to think it was just a bad twist or whatever. About an hour or two later, she got an x-ray and confirmation it was a pretty bad break (required some screws and plates). It was pretty shitastic considering it was an easy diagnosis - ie send her to get an xray immediately.

Then an hour and a half later they withdrew blood. Now I am awaiting those results. They said the lab would have those results in 30-60 minutes. I got here 1:30 PST. At least you knew your EKG was normal when you had to sit unattended for a long time afterwards.

Further Posted July 10, 2019 Share #74 Posted July 10, 2019 I went to the e-room with a dislocated finger, It took a 90 degree left at the middle knuckle. They had me in a wheelchair & in front of a Dr. before they even got my name. Even though I told them I drove myself in, and stopped for a shower on the way.
