Popular Post ChrisL Posted July 15, 2019 Popular Post Share #1 Posted July 15, 2019 So the past few weeks my Anthem developed this terrible creaking noise. I took it to the shop I got it and they couldn’t replicate the creek.. Yet I still heard it... I thought it was BB or maybe pivot points so took it to another LBS and explained the creak, that it only happens when pedaling under load and another shop couldn’t diagnose it on the stand. So this shop says suspension pivots were loose so tightened them and assured me problem solved... Next ride creaakkkk.... ? So I noticed that the creaking noise only happens when sitting on the saddle so got off and started flexing the back of the saddle, creak, creak, creak!!!! Hah so after the ride got out the trusty Phillips screwdriver and tightened the 6 little screws on the underside of the seat and all is quiet! Two bike shops and $25 later and all it needed was a couple of turns with a screwdriver... 3 1 1
JerrySTL ★ Posted July 15, 2019 Share #2 Posted July 15, 2019 For me it's often the handlebars or knees. 1

ChrisL Posted July 15, 2019 Author Share #6 Posted July 15, 2019 I have purchased 3 bikes for myself since the time my wife got her last bike to the commuter this weekend, one earlier this year. When I told my brother about her new bike he says in kind of a pissed off manner, so since she got one you get a new one too right!?!! Uh no dude... 2Far ★ Posted July 15, 2019 Share #7 Posted July 15, 2019 I have a tick in mine, when the right peddle is at about 1:00. It hasn't changed in the 2 year since it started. Ill tighten up the seat bolts.

smudge ★ Posted July 15, 2019 Share #9 Posted July 15, 2019 As soon as I read "creak," my first thought was seat/seatpost. Glad you figured it out. 1

Wilbur ★ Posted July 15, 2019 Share #11 Posted July 15, 2019 Anthem's are like that. They are fine at first but the longer they go , the squeakier they sound. I would pick a different song.

He’s got around 15 bikes... 2 mountain, 2 road, 1 gravel, a slew of other bikes like fixies, cruisers & etc. I honestly don’t know why he came off like that. He knows I value quality over quantity and other than a possible ebike I’m not in the market for another.

Did you check to see if the front derailleur cable end is hitting something. 1
