Ralphie ★ Posted July 21, 2019 Share #1 Posted July 21, 2019 I swear I planted a variety of tomatoes, but every single one is producing orange cherry tomatoes! Wtf?
late Posted July 21, 2019 Share #2 Posted July 21, 2019 You get them all from the same place?

Maybe two, but it is also odd that there are no little plastic tab things with the variety on them. I usually put them with one of the plants anyway. It almost seems like maybe they cross-pollinated and I would up with something like the universal city dog. But I guess the more likely thing is they were indeed all the same plant variety due to a mix-up at the greenhouse or garden center. The good thing is orange cherries are very productive and easy to grow and good little portable snacks, but I am getting taared of them!

late Posted July 21, 2019 Share #5 Posted July 21, 2019 If you plan on keeping the seed to use next year, than you want to keep them separated. But... you put a Big Beef next to a cherry, and their kids might have a problem with confused identities, but the Big Beef won't start putting out cherries. Further Posted July 21, 2019 Share #6 Posted July 21, 2019 I planted a wide variety of peppers one year in a small garden. I harvested a bunch of smallish bell pepper looking things that tasted a lot like jalapeno
Longjohn ★ Posted July 21, 2019 Share #7 Posted July 21, 2019 More likely the grower got them mixed up.
