Further Posted July 22, 2019 Share #1 Posted July 22, 2019 How do I raise the handlebars on the Roubaix ? About 2 inches please. My back & neck are not taking to aerodynamics...
dinneR ★ Posted July 22, 2019 Share #2 Posted July 22, 2019 a higher rise and shorter stem will do the trick. Go to your LBS and see if they can show you options. My LBS had software to show you what the switch would look like. They entered the geometry of the bike then show you what it will look like to alter the rise and length of the stem. Page Turner Posted July 22, 2019 Share #4 Posted July 22, 2019 ...yeah. You're pretty much limited to changing out the stem on a bicycle of that sort. This is the down side of threadless.
sheep_herder ★ Posted July 22, 2019 Share #5 Posted July 22, 2019 You need to determine what type of head set you have and look for options. Going to a shop as Dennis suggested is a good first step. Yep, I assumed he was dealing with threadless, and as I only have threaded, my suggestions would not help.
dinneR ★ Posted July 22, 2019 Share #6 Posted July 22, 2019 I see people riding with their bars flipped. Wonky as hell, but to each his or her own. Messes up this old Bridgestone.

If you bought bike in the past 15 years pretty much this^^^
Page Turner Posted July 23, 2019 Share #8 Posted July 23, 2019 ...unless you leave the steerer intentionally a little long when you cut it, you're pretty much limited to one spot at the stem fork interface. They make all sorts of threadless stems that have shorter reach and more acute upright angles for just this reason. Once the fork steerer is cut, you're pretty much limited to one spot at the stem fork interface.
Further Posted July 23, 2019 Author Share #9 Posted July 23, 2019 Thank You everyone, the stem that Dennis posted looks like what I'm after. Or maybe apehangers
dinneR ★ Posted July 23, 2019 Share #10 Posted July 23, 2019 It seems most road bikes today are sold for speed rather than comfort. Tarmacs, Madones etc have a pretty aggressive geometry off the shelf. I 'd rather be comfortable so you can ride faster longer while giving up some aerodynamics. See how the head tube, stack, and stem put my handlebar in a comfortable position.

My back & neck are not taking to aerodynamics... You could quickly raise the handlebars by either doing a wheelie or a manual. It’s hard to keep them raised for very long. I suggest ape hangers. 1

I usually suggest that when someone is having trouble with their car, their job, their house or their wife, not when the problem is bike related.
