I thought ghee was clarified butter ?

I saw bottles of ghee the other day at Aldis and wondered about it.

It is.

Cheaper to make your own.

I haven't done that, but I did buy a bottle from TJs. Didn't use it much, but I'd prob use it now, because I am eating more Indian stuff. I think it might be a good choice for Asian and Mexican dishes.

So I'm a bit confused about the healthy oils.

First, you want to be taking a good Omega 3, pref with fish.

Second, olive and coconut oils are prob the best for everyday use. It can be hard to find actual olive oil, lots of fakes out there.

Third, Omega 7, which you find in macademia nuts, helps Omega 3, and is a good addition.

Fourth, ghee, nut oils, and avocado oil make up the third rank. Walnut oil makes an amazing salad dressing. These guys can go bad on you.

I keep getting coupons for this.  What is it used for?  Is it another oil, or something specific?

melt butter, skim the milk solids off, you have ghee.

When you remove the milk, you can cook with butter at a higher temp and it won't burn. Clarifying your own butter is just an extra step than buying it as ghee. If it's not too expensive, it saves you some time.
