Cheaper to make your own. I haven't done that, but I did buy a bottle from TJs. Didn't use it much, but I'd prob use it now, because I am eating more Indian stuff. I think it might be a good choice for Asian and Mexican dishes.

Second, olive and coconut oils are prob the best for everyday use. It can be hard to find actual olive oil, lots of fakes out there. Third, Omega 7, which you find in macademia nuts, helps Omega 3, and is a good addition. Fourth, ghee, nut oils, and avocado oil make up the third rank. Walnut oil makes an amazing salad dressing. These guys can go bad on you.

Forum Administrator Posted July 23, 2019 Share #11 Posted July 23, 2019 I keep getting coupons for this. What is it used for? Is it another oil, or something specific?

Clarifying your own butter is just an extra step than buying it as ghee. If it's not too expensive, it saves you some time.
Longjohn ★ Posted July 23, 2019 Share #13 Posted July 23, 2019 You just melt butter in a skillet until the oil separates from the stuff that looks like curds. The oil is called ghee edit: dang, day late and a dollar short again.

Dirtyhip Posted July 24, 2019 Share #18 Posted July 24, 2019 It's just clarified butter. Clarify your butter for better cooking and a higher smoke point. It is very easy.

You would use a pat of butter on pancakes though. Clarified butter is mainly to prevent scorching.
