Mr. Silly Posted June 16, 2014 Share #1 Posted June 16, 2014 He worked in construction, while honest work, probably didn't pay that well. On the other that house and car probably cost him some coin. He had to support his two kids (although I wonder if he was really Marilyn's biological father), and his father in law while his wife didn't work. I don't think it was a stretch to say Spot was probably expensive to feed. I don't see where he is getting the money from his job to support his lifestyle.
Chopped Liver Posted June 16, 2014 Share #2 Posted June 16, 2014 His wife was Mrs. America (or some such BS). I'm sure the modeling brought in some bank. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yvonne_De_Carlo

jsharr ★ Posted June 16, 2014 Share #7 Posted June 16, 2014 He was a grave digger. That leaves a lot of room for interpretation. I bet the dug of rich people and took their stuff to sell. I heard Mike Brady was his fence.
Nate Posted June 16, 2014 Share #8 Posted June 16, 2014 I don't see where he is getting the money from his job to support his lifestyle. Him and Grandpa were with NYPD before Herman settled down and started raising Eddie. I think he had his policeman's pension and don't forget Grandpa's social security

2Far ★ Posted June 16, 2014 Share #10 Posted June 16, 2014 IIRC in one episode, Mrs. M said that, despite the old adage, Grandpa did take it with him when he died, he just forgot to bring it with him when he came back.

Kirby Posted June 17, 2014 Share #12 Posted June 17, 2014 Marilyn was Herman's niece (Lily's sister daughter). Herman always blamed Lily's side of the family for Marilyn's unfortunate looks. Lily had a job as a welder at one point, but I don't think that job lasted too long.
Thaddeus Kosciuszko Posted June 17, 2014 Share #13 Posted June 17, 2014 A lunch box, usually. At least when he came home from work anyway. Now, since he was a grave digger and Spot needed to eat, perhaps it's no surprise his lunch box was so large...
