Popular Post Longjohn ★ Posted August 29, 2019 Popular Post Share #1 Posted August 29, 2019 Build a wheelchair ramp. I have the stair lift and it works great but my wife still has to walk out to the car down three steps. This morning as I was helping her down to the car her her leg gave out and she fell. I managed to pick her up this time. She scraped her knee pretty good. I bought the lumber today, will build it tomorrow. 2 2 1

It’s going to be slight, don’t know how many degrees. It will be twenty feet long going from the threshold to the driveway.
Longjohn ★ Posted August 30, 2019 Author Share #7 Posted August 30, 2019 The ramp will be where I drew the red line. Just three small steps but she fell on that last one this morning. I can’t risk that again.
smudge ★ Posted August 30, 2019 Share #8 Posted August 30, 2019 Too bad I live so far away. I would love to help you out with this project. You are working very hard to keep Mrs. LJ doing her best. I would be honored to help lighten your load. I hope the project goes smoothly. 2

smudge ★ Posted August 31, 2019 Share #24 Posted August 31, 2019 Staple some chicken wire on it. I hear that works for grip too. Seriously, wet wood is dangerous. And it DOES look fun. The grandkids are gonna love your home even more!
Longjohn ★ Posted August 31, 2019 Author Share #25 Posted August 31, 2019 I just used the ramp for the first time. My wife got a call from her oncologist at two AM telling her they just read her CT scan and she has large blood clots in both lungs, go immediately to the ER to be admitted. So now we are in the hospital and they are running more tests. The ramp worked well. 1

Will this give you time to add stain/paint/racing stripes, plus guardrails and non-stick tape or the like? Sorry this is going on, and I hope you both are holding up ok!
