Ralphie ★ Posted September 7, 2019 Share #8 Posted September 7, 2019 I just remember being sad aboot the closing of the beach at the lake and the dearth of young tanned babes after that. 1
Airehead Posted September 7, 2019 Share #9 Posted September 7, 2019 Yes, leaving the beach to go back to school. His name was LJ. HIs dad owned the Chevrolet dealer in his town. We promised to write. He sent me a picture of his cat standing on a pumpkin. I kept that pictures for a very, very long time. 1 1
Wilbur ★ Posted September 7, 2019 Share #10 Posted September 7, 2019 Yes, I had to kiss the carefree warmth of fun and frolic away for a dreary existence as a student. I hated school. It was the certain death of summer. 2
team scooter Posted September 7, 2019 Share #11 Posted September 7, 2019 When I was between 12 and 15 years old, we'd spend most of our summer vacation at the family "lake cottage". And I had a pseudo girl friend who's family would also spend the summers at their cottage. We'd spend the summer together riding our bikes, exploring the area and sneaking into the local drive-in theater for popcorn and Raisinets. We'd say goodbye when school started. I heard they moved to Florida.
ChrisL Posted September 7, 2019 Share #12 Posted September 7, 2019 Actually yeah... I enlisted in the Army in Sept 1984. Said good bye to my GF in the doorway of her house. It didn’t officially end until about a year later but that day in Sept was pretty much the end, we just didn’t know it yet.

We would pick wild strawberries on the hill and set up a roadside stand to sell them. We should have just eaten them! 1

Longjohn ★ Posted September 7, 2019 Share #17 Posted September 7, 2019 Don’t forget the flip side of this. I had a girlfriend all through high school. When she started college she got knocked up by one of her classmates from college. I took her to a concert by these guys in Youngstown shortly before we broke up.

Zephyr Posted September 7, 2019 Share #50 Posted September 7, 2019 Yes. Our cottage where I spent my summers was not in my home town. It was before cell phones and texting etc. We would lose touch over the winter and before seeing each other, one of us would be tied up with someone else. Our timings never got figured out. I ran into her about 10 years ago while visiting the family. We had a great chat. She still looks amazing. She went home and left her husband that night. It was just coincidence and not because of me, but I like to think it was because of my uncontrollable animal magnetism 2
