You know the types, with the corny lines and added hustle to overdo the kindness and helpfulness. I am old school in that I will hold a door for an older woman and even lift a heavy bag for them as travel is tough for the aged. I just don't trip over my dick trying to be Johnny on the spot for them all. I have F.O's that carry and load the flight attendants luggage for them. I will give those types a bit of a hard time. Mt policy is "you packed it, you carry it." I have no problem letting that policy be known either. The younger FA's all like to greet with a hug and a kiss. I had one not long ago that I had never met and she tried that. I think she felt the pull away to a more business friendly hand shake and smile. Then she says "Not a hugger?" "No sorry, I reserve that for family". Flight attendants can be a pain in the ass. Pound for pound, I would rather have fuel. So far, I have known 6 pilots that have been taken down by the "Me too" deal. Everything goes out of whack, context wise when hugging and cheek pecks happen and dudes seem to view it as permission to proceed. There are numerous people that carry on just to win the favour of the pilots. They get free drinks and meals that way and are happy to accept them. The guys fall for it all the time. I like to be fair, friendly and as the Captain, firm when needed. I generally don't make concessions for women. I don't agree with everything they say in hope of action.
