Square Wheels Posted October 16, 2019 Share #1 Posted October 16, 2019 Sadly we got to the airport 2 hours early for our flight. Sitting on the floor in the middle of the main thoroughfare waiting for my wifes iPhone to charge. We depart at 11:30 Salt Lake City time, land in Boston at 5:30am. I'll be pooped. Wife is crazy, she's going to work.

maddmaxx ★ Posted October 16, 2019 Share #4 Posted October 16, 2019 2 plane trips in the same week??????? Lucky devil. Yes, I love to fly and unlike almost 100% of the population I like airports. They are a fantastic place to watch people and their interactions with others and with events. You can for example sit in the departure lounge in Orlando and observe people going to different destinations. They tend to fall into a structure depending on where they are from or going to, believe it or not. Some of the best dressed professional looking business women are going to Chicago for example. Some of the strangest looking are going to New England. These are statistical estimates so don't jump the shark if not everyone fits that observation. 2

She entertains herself and all her Facebook friends by making up “The Airport Chronicals” She will take a picture of a random couple waiting at the airport and make up names and a story about the couple. It is hilarious. She is an English professor so her stories are always well written. It’s a shame the people she is writing about never get to see their moment of fame. Here is her latest example: Welcome to another exciting edition of airport chronicles. Meet the Allegiant team of Ricky, Lisa, and Leah. Ricky is dating Leah (far right), but things have become routine. The once raging fire has become children’s temperature tepid. Lisa (in the middle) brings Ricky coffee, notices when he parts his hair on a different side, and leaves cutesy Post-It notes in his cubby. Is Leah playing dumb or quietly researching if Ricky’s dismembered remains will, indeed, fit in an overhead carry on? 5 1
Razors Edge ★ Posted October 16, 2019 Share #6 Posted October 16, 2019 Tough call. As a SOLO traveler, I find airports and flying to be pretty fun and can be an adventure when hitting a new destination. Traveling with others, including my wife, adds that layer of stress that makes it less fun. Discussions on when to get there, how many bags to check, which security line works, how to spend the wait, where to sit, etc. adds to the hectic nature of travel. I commute by Metro several days a week. I'm used to people, noise, and a low level of idiocy surrounding me, so solo air travel is just a longer duration of that nuttiness. No big deal. ChrisL Posted October 16, 2019 Share #14 Posted October 16, 2019 Yeah I’m really sick of living out of a suitcase and eating hotel food/out. My 4 day weekend is on day 6 now with 2 more days to go. Had to have my daughter ship more meds and we made a trip to Target for more socks, underwear & t shirts. I have a flight to FL today to escort my FIL back home then we fly home Friday. Can’t freaking wait to get home. At least the hotel is nice and we are in a cool place.

I lived in a hotel for almost a year in Orlando. I agree that it gets tiring to eat out so I took up cooking for myself. In the Residence Inn I had a full kitchen so I would go out every day or every other day to the stores to get whatever I decided was going to be on the menu. My only problem was keeping the fridge stock low because I would leave the room every other weekend to fly home. That meant that I couldn't stock spices and stuff beyond very small quantities.
Kirby Posted October 16, 2019 Share #17 Posted October 16, 2019 I dislike flying when there are a lot of deadlines involved - where I'm worried about getting home in time because i need to work tomorrow or I'm going to an event. I do like the idea of a flight being the start of an adventure, though.
