late Posted October 20, 2019 Share #1 Posted October 20, 2019 They make eccentrically shaped chain rings that are supposed to be easy on your knees. Also quite expensive... Gonna call a bike shop manana to see what they actually cost, and if they make something that will fit my bike. It's only a 100 miles away, no biggie. https://rotorbike.com/catalog/default/#
ChrisL Posted October 20, 2019 Share #2 Posted October 20, 2019 Yeah rotor has been around for several years. Several pro riders use the eccentric chainrings and they make a complete road group with hydraulic derailures.

It couldn't have made much of an impression, I don't remember what it was like. The old grey matter ain't what it used to be.
ChrisL Posted October 20, 2019 Share #5 Posted October 20, 2019 Just now, late said: Yeah, I put it on one of my bikes. It couldn't have made much of an impression, I don't remember what it was like. The old grey matter ain't what it used to be. The Rotor rings are supposed to be a lot better than biopace. I’m not 100% certain if the Rotor eccentric rings really work or not but there was considerable hype on them several years ago and I think some top end riders still use them. It seems most still ride round rings tho.
donkpow Posted October 20, 2019 Share #6 Posted October 20, 2019 The eccentric rings were designed to smooth out the power fluctuations around the pedal turn. Smaller chainringss will reduce the "load" on your knees.
