jsharr ★ Posted November 12, 2019 Share #3 Posted November 12, 2019 Scouting. I really want to be a Camp Ranger after I retire and have my ashes spread over Camp Wisdom in Dallas, as my family has strong ties to the land that the camp is built on.
late Posted November 12, 2019 Share #4 Posted November 12, 2019 Everything carries risk. As long as you are alive, you are 'willing' to die doing it. Personally, I keep hoping for some sort of hi tech rejuvenation process to come along.
ChrisL Posted November 12, 2019 Share #5 Posted November 12, 2019 Driving to work probably carries the biggest risk... But probably riding on the road. With the inherent dangers it’s probably the most dangerous thing I do.

I don't want to be the old man that is found dead, sitting on a hotel room toilet. Yes, I fear that. I also don't want to go doing what I love most or that will mean a whole bunch of people went with me. Not on a bicycle either. Maybe walking the dogs at the lake. That too is an admirable way to go. I want to go quietly and quickly in my sleep, not terrified and screaming like the people riding in my car with me. 2

Further Posted November 12, 2019 Share #12 Posted November 12, 2019 I like sleeping, if I can't die peacefully in my sleep I would like my death to stand for something, what I don't know. Maybe be like Clint in Gran Torino... Or standing up for what is right......But it is getting hard to tell right from wrong... Sleeping is looking good 1
ChrisL Posted November 12, 2019 Share #13 Posted November 12, 2019 I remember a discussion with my wife on mountain biking which she did try. She asked if I was scared of crashing. Nope not scared. Oh crap... ow!

Back when I rode fast....the emotions went from 'faster, faster, get air, slide, faster...' to oh shit this is going to hurt' real quick, but it usally didn't hurt that bad, and when you're young you heal fast. Now I can hurt myself getting on the bike
jsharr ★ Posted November 12, 2019 Share #16 Posted November 12, 2019 I do not think how you die matters as much as how you live. Live a life worth living. Do something with a purpose. Leave the world a little better than you found it both in life and death if possible.
