jsharr ★ Posted November 18, 2019 Share #2 Posted November 18, 2019 I have seen this and wondered if it really works. Seems like an easy way to screw up some classic vinyl if you use the wrong sort of glue.
Wilbur ★ Posted November 18, 2019 Share #3 Posted November 18, 2019 Yes but it is time consuming. I have done about 800 lp's. 2600 to go.
Popular Post Longjohn ★ Posted November 18, 2019 Popular Post Share #4 Posted November 18, 2019 Try super glue, it dries faster. 1
Razors Edge ★ Posted November 18, 2019 Share #5 Posted November 18, 2019 That is really neat. Whether or not it is easy, works, or is necessary, it is still cool. I bet it is fun peeling off that layer of glue! On the flipside, I never have to clean my digital music, so I guess I'll never get to enjoy this glue peeling thing

Have you had any luck with imperfections like skipping or does it just clean up the crackling noise?
Wilbur ★ Posted November 18, 2019 Share #7 Posted November 18, 2019 Just now, dennis said: Have you had any luck with imperfections like skipping or does it just clean up the crackling noise? Not unless the skip was debris. I would say it is about a 30% reduction in noise though.

What glue do you use? I need to get on this pronto. Edith Piaf could use some tlc.
Indy Posted November 18, 2019 Share #9 Posted November 18, 2019 Would've been better if it didn't sound like Miles Davis after he was done. I was hoping it would be AC/DC afterwards.
JerrySTL ★ Posted November 18, 2019 Share #10 Posted November 18, 2019 This reminds me that I need to get out the isopropyl alcohol and Q-tips to clean cassette heads. Where did I put the demagnetizer?

Is the Ukraine/Russia border porous enough these days to allow that sort of migration?
TrentonMakes Posted November 18, 2019 Share #15 Posted November 18, 2019 I don't think I have any vinyl worth cleaning, and until I dig up a new stylus I don't have a functioning turntable anyway. That being said, I can't overstate how satisfying I find it just to watch a video clip of that layer of dried glue being peeled away.

The crappiest wood glue available. Two brands I use are Elmer's and LaPages. Don't know if those are US brands or not.
