Less than 5 grand.   Two big propane grills, side burner, lanterns , pots pans cutlery three big coolers, water jugs, etc

Then, why have insurance if the trailer is not covered, and you have a $5,000 deductible, unless it is tied to a liability policy? Maybe use the premium to purchase locks like jdc2000 suggested. Just curious, is one of your leaders an insurance salesman?

Not our policy.  Pack equipment is owned by the church.  Have inquired about getting our own policy on new trailer.  We had never asked about deductible or coverage

Had wheel locks, tongue lock, door locks.

What part of "Be prepared" is foreign to you????

we asked the church if they had insurance or if we needed to get insurance.  Were told they had insurance.  This will be rectified when the trailer is replaced.  Scouting is sort of weird in that the Pack or Troop has to be chartered by a civic organization in the community and the charter organization owns all Pack or Troop equipment.    We had only had this trailer for a few years and just never thought to check on coverage or deductible.  I imagine this was a new situation for the church too and that the Scout Troop there that has 3 big trailers with much more equipment in them will be checking their coverage too.

It's the church's business/property insurance, not against some auto policy, correct?  Is there a chance there is some cross-policy coverage?  I'm thinking that trailers have license plates, and someone (unlikely the troop) has to do that registration, so maybe the car policy associated with them would apply?  Or, at least, in the future?  I've never owned a trailer, but I would have thought my car insurance, not my home owners insurance, would be on the hook if the trailer was stolen or damaged.

In any case, you know I am just poking.  It is one of those "who knew" sort of things.

Wo46 and I were just talking about the race trailer and looking into exactly what the insurance policy covers. We were sitting at the last race of the year when someone was saying that they had their trailer stolen from a hotel on their way to the race.
