Does Your Dog/Cat Sleep In Your Bed

My dog does, and she is progressively taking up more and more of the bed (a king) despite staying the same size (~20lbs).  Last night, I rolled over, and got a kung fu kick to the nose.  Apparently, my movement disturbed her sleep and she needed to re-align herself.  My wife seems to protect her 50% of the bed, but my side is fair game for my pup to muscle in on me.

Of course, I talk to some other dog and cat owners and realize it could be far worse.  My pup doesn't sleep on my pillow (yet) and we only have one dog to contend with.

The cat comes and goes, it's a cat.

I've had a few cats in my life, and they were surprisingly different in sleeping styles.  As a kid, we had one cat who would just curl up on the bottom of the bed and sleep soundly.  Her younger brother, though, would rarely spend time on the bed at night. Another cat would be ape-shit active during the night, and would probably get most of his exercise running and jumping during the night and then would sleep all day.

Yes and Romeo will spend about half the night on top of the covers, usually by Martha's legs or feet and then he will move under the covers, sometimes without waking us up, and sleep by my feet or back.

Ha - last night, besides the kung fu kick, my pup decided to relocate from above the covers to below the covers by coming up to me and nosing me until I woke up and lifted the covers.  No respect at all.

They both do. The dog will get in bed when we do then after a few hours she will sleep on the floor. She climbs back in around 4 am. The cat usually shows up around 4:30.

Romeo does this to Martha... Mildred.

As a rule, no. The dog used to, but the time he growled when I rolled over and disrupted him, he lost his bed privileges. He now sleeps on a bench next to our footboard. The cats would sleep on top of us if they were allowed, so they are closed out of the bedroom on all but an exceptionally rare occasion, when it doesn’t matter if they awaken us repeatedly at night.

When our border collie was alive, she would hop on the bed and sleep at the foot between us. After she got too old to hop up, we put a blanket on the floor by the bed for her.
Our cat will come and sleep on the corner by my feet sometime during the night. If it’s really cold out, she will snuggle against my back. If we sleep too late in the morning for her pleasure, she will lay on top of my side or chest with her nose in my face and a loud purr!
