Razors Edge ★ Posted December 27, 2019 Share #1 Posted December 27, 2019 I've got about a 10' x 8' stretch of wall that requires a repaint, but I want it to match the 10 yr old paint currently on the adjoining walls. What are the odds they can seamlessly match the color we have already? How big of a sample do they need to get a match?
groupw Posted December 27, 2019 Share #2 Posted December 27, 2019 Sherwin Williams did a great job on matching some paint about that old in our store. I think he just had a trim piece or bit of drywall that was removed in the remodel. A couple square inches should be plenty. Granted, I did feather the paint on the areas to blend even better, but the match was perfect!

Kzoo Posted December 27, 2019 Share #5 Posted December 27, 2019 I've had them match with just a small dime sized chip and as long as it's an adjoining wall and not trying to patch the same wall you will be good to go.

Swing by and feather my paint, and I'll talk to Old#7 and have him swing by with his trailer to haul all that junk up to Donkpow. Win-win-win. donkpow Posted December 27, 2019 Share #9 Posted December 27, 2019 Yeah, Sherwin Williams has a good paint matching machine. Of course, the skill of the operator is important. Be sure your new sample dries completely. I would take it home over night and go back in the next day to order the new paint.

MickinMD ★ Posted December 27, 2019 Share #15 Posted December 27, 2019 I would ask someone at the store on a weekday around 11 am -in other words, the full-time guy most likely who knows his stuff- what kind of samples could be brought in: if you can't scrape a sample off the wall would a phone pic work and in what kind of lighting should it be taken in? Can you put the picture on a USB stick drive or can they download it from your phone or read it from the phone display?
