pizza madness

Recommended Posts

I got a TJs veggie pizza. To which I added TJs turkey summer sausage, TJs red pepper artichoke dip, TJs Greek feta, and canned mushrooms. 8 minutes with just the pizza, and another 8 (or more) after the wretched excess gets added.

Should be interesting. I'm a disappointed in the sausage, but hopefully buried in the pile it's mediocrity won't stand out. We'll find out soon.

What are you hoping to achieve with this recipe for pizza?

Dinner.

Store bought pizza, for the most part, is pretty lame. But if you add some extra toppings, it stops feeling like a culinary insult.

But bacon isn't something I put on pizza, ever.

I have to agree with you and go against the usually quite sane Parr8 and the consistently doltish Jsharr.  Really, pepperoni is a far better meat for pizza. Then ham or even ground beef. Bacon - and not the nonsensical CAnadian bacon - is way better utilized in other ways, including as a crumble on a salad.

Monday, I got Pizza Boli's "Mealbuster Pizza:" Our secret recipe pizza sauce topped with pepperoni, Italian sausage, fresh mushrooms, fresh green peppers, fresh onions, black olives, and topped with an extra amount of our special blend of 100% fresh natural cheeses.

I got the 16" pizza for $21.19 because it's not much more expensive than the 12" but twice as big.  I hadn't had lunch and ended up eating 4 of the slices, then wrapped the remaining four slices in two aluminum foil packages so I can heat them in my toaster oven (350°, 15 min.) which keeps the crust crisper than nuking them.  Two slices and some baby potatoes cut in wedges, tossed with a little EVOO, and coated with dry Italian seasoning and baked for 25 min. at 350° make a full supper for me.  Lucky, my excellent Oster Extra-Large (16") toaster oven has two racks.

I'm no purist, one of my faves is pineapple/burger. But bacon isn't something I put on pizza, ever.
