Just find a better employer and get it ALL! I have to say, a day off in the dismal & yucky months is very nice. In the pleasant months, there is ample time to get out and enjoy things with longer days and better weather. In winter, it's nice to just kick back and relax (and get paid).

On all of those holidays the grocery stores, gas stations, hospitals, etc. are open and on most of them the high school sports I was paid to coach held practices, games, etc. as expected by my bosses. Dottleshead ★ Posted January 17, 2020 Author Share #24 Posted January 17, 2020 My company's standard holidays are: • New Year’s Day • Memorial Day • July 4th • Labor Day • Thanksgiving Day • Day After Thanksgiving • Christmas Eve • Christmas Day • Holiday Shutdown We basically get the whole week of Christmas to New Years off. So I can't complain too much about not getting Monday off. But I'm going to complain anyway. I don't get Monday off!!

At the forge they traded some of those days for the first couple days of deer season. When they started hiring millennials they whined about having the longest Holliday of the year during crappy weather. As the old timers die off or retire the youngsters will probably try to change it to something else. I always looked forward to Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, Tuesday all off work.
Prophet Zacharia Posted January 18, 2020 Share #31 Posted January 18, 2020 This is what I get. I always feel a little guilty about the March day off as it’s not a holiday anyone else recognizes, but it’s an a replacement for “Presidents Day”. I’m working it this year, anyway. Kirby Posted January 18, 2020 Share #35 Posted January 18, 2020 I have a vacation day on Monday, but it's not a regular holiday for the company (although you can take it as a floater holiday). However, the company is arranging a number of volunteer service opportunities, so if you want, you can choose to work on a number of projects for the community and have it count as a work day.
