Airehead Posted February 2, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted February 2, 2020 So many worthy charities. I would give some to the Bill Cook Foundation. A local guy who is schooling kids in places where educates a gift especially for children with disabilities. Also some to the charities that support children in foster and adoption situations in memory of my mom.

Ralphie ★ Posted February 2, 2020 Share #7 Posted February 2, 2020 I would have to pull a petite and do exhaustive research. I would probably tend more toward teaching people how to fish than feeding them fish. 2

MoseySusan Posted February 2, 2020 Share #9 Posted February 2, 2020 I would use it to start building a Special Olympics training facility and competition venue here.

2Far ★ Posted February 2, 2020 Share #11 Posted February 2, 2020 There are a lot of smaller charities around here doing grassroots work. One profiled last week was getting victims of sex trafficking back on their feet.
Kirby Posted February 2, 2020 Share #12 Posted February 2, 2020 I'd also try to pick a smaller charity where that amount would make a difference. I'd also want to make sure they'd use the donation for a purpose that I consider primary to the organization's purpose. I'm reminded of the story from few years ago where a librarian at the U of New Hampshire left his estate to the school. They used a small portion of it on the library and over a million to build a new video scoreboard for the stadium. I'd probably donate it to animal related charities.

MickinMD ★ Posted February 3, 2020 Share #19 Posted February 3, 2020 I'd spread it out over a few charities after researching to see that more than 90% of the money they collect goes to benefiting whoever they're claiming to benefit.

BuffJim Posted February 3, 2020 Share #21 Posted February 3, 2020 Along the lines of what Longjohn put. Christian ministries devoted to alleviating suffering and sharing the good news. One I've been involved with is International Christian Concern.
