sheep_herder Posted February 4, 2020 Share #1 Posted February 4, 2020 Not sure my wife is going to wake up, and I just returned from at 11:00pm after finding a new lamb and hauling water. Others may be getting interested in doing something in the night. Temperature is in the low 20s, so that is nice. Hope everyone has a Good Sleep.
Parsnip Totin Jack Posted February 4, 2020 Share #2 Posted February 4, 2020 I’d be glad too but I’m a long ways off. It’s 4 am here. Getting ready for a ride. It’s 58 right now with rain later. Sleep well little lambs 1

maddmaxx Posted February 4, 2020 Share #5 Posted February 4, 2020 I was up before 4. How else could I manage to make a cup of coffee before reporting for forum duty. 2

sheep_herder Posted February 4, 2020 Author Share #7 Posted February 4, 2020 I woke up, but she had already checked, so I went back to sleep. She saw and was surprised by the new lamb that I found at midnight. Now, I have to take an older one to the slaughter plant. Thanks!!
Kirby Posted February 4, 2020 Share #8 Posted February 4, 2020 When I get up in the middle of the night, all I see is a cat sleeping soundly, no baby lambs.

Popular Post Longjohn Posted February 5, 2020 Popular Post Share #10 Posted February 5, 2020 My wife woke up and didn’t know where she was. Then she figured it out and called me because she needed to use the bedpan. After she was done she told me she dreamed she was eating a Klondike bar. I asked her if she wanted one. She said only if I eat one too. I told her I’d get them as soon as I threw away my rubber gloves and washed my hands. Klondike’s are good in the middle of the night. We sat and talked and ate our ice cream. I told her she woke me up in the middle of a dream where the Amish had robbed the Pymatuning Dam Beer brewery and the cops pulled me over to see if I had any beer in my car. Then they asked me if I wanted any. They gave me a case of beer the Amish had left behind. We ate pizza just before we went to bed, maybe pizza does cause weird dreams? 6
maddmaxx Posted February 5, 2020 Share #11 Posted February 5, 2020 I would think that a 4am sheep check would put most back to sleep. 1....2....3...............................
sheep_herder Posted February 5, 2020 Author Share #12 Posted February 5, 2020 Just finished the 2:00am check, and all is well. A young ewe had a lamb earlier, but she is a bit skittish. Even with a light cold wind, I think she will do better with it in the dry lot. It was dry and fed, and she had parked it behind a feed bunk and other sheep. It was warm when I checked just now. They should be fine until morning. I have two bottle lambs in the house. With one the ewe only wanted one of a set of twins, and the other is one that has been stealing from other ewes. Both are good nursing from the bottle and are enjoying their new home.

When our kids were little we bottle fed a lamb and kept it in the house for a time. It was a great experience for the kids.
