Popular Post Airehead Posted February 5, 2020 Popular Post Share #1 Posted February 5, 2020 Just dawned on me that they are going to cut through a bunch of the bones that were just wired back together for Mr. Aire. I know I am being ridiculous in my worry but..... I made arrangements for the vet to keep the dogs if necessary and I will leave a van key for @Couch_Incident just in case. I also talked to our breeder friend in case she needs to come here and watch them. I double checked our will. I asked him 50 times how he feels. I really need to settle the heck down. we find out Friday how they plan to work around the scar tissue and wires and stuff. A new valve really shouldn’t be a big deal and I am way less worried about the heart part than the getting to the heart part. I might need medication if you guys aren’t successful in calming me down. 2
Airehead Posted February 5, 2020 Author Share #2 Posted February 5, 2020 Thursday is two more tests that require sedation. That cannot be good for the heart.
Popular Post Kirby Posted February 5, 2020 Popular Post Share #3 Posted February 5, 2020 It is natural to be worried. It would be odd if you weren't. But as a doctor friend told me when my Dad had heart surgery, this is a big deal to the patient and their family, but this is a relatively routine procedure. But we don't do this every day, so it's natural that we'd be concerned. But Mr Aire is in much better health than my Dad when he had his surgery and Mr Aire will have all the good vibes from the forum. 3 3

Popular Post Further Posted February 5, 2020 Popular Post Share #5 Posted February 5, 2020 I have brother in law who had a heart transplant about 12 years ago. A transplanted heart has an average life of about 10 years, so his is getting long in the tooth. He has been in the family about 3 years now and has had his chest opened at least 3 times during those 3 years. Many camera up the artery events. Countless medication adjustments. He just keeps on keepin on. Not just surviving but living everyday. Loves going to concerts, riding his Harley and drinking whiskey. I guess I'm trying to say that heart surgery has come a long way and the Doctors know what they are doing. And we're all pullin for ya.... 3

He has a mitral valve prolapse that is significant enough to require replacement. How they get there is unknown. Minimally invasive is hopefully the plan. He is holding out for a valve repair because he believes that will get his medical back with less problems than a valve replacement. I am worried about him dying. He is worried about when he can get his medical back. 29 minutes ago, Zackny said: I guess I don’t know the whole story but you both are in my prayers. All will be well. At a regular doctor visit, it was detected he was in a fib. No symptoms reported by him not even racing pulse which apparently it is. Cardiologist visit and a bunch of tests later, he needs surgery and his blood is regurgitating because they itral valve doesn’t close and his left atrium is much bigger than it should be. You can even see it to my trained eye. Getting to the heart is complicated by wires and scar tissue from the plane crash. Planned heart surgery is much better than unplanned heart surgery so I should quit worrying . 5
petitepedal Posted February 5, 2020 Share #9 Posted February 5, 2020 I am guessing the Docs know about all the parts wired together...and unless he is having his surgery done by a med student...they have plenty of experience. Take some deep breaths ....close your eyes and put it in Gods hands.....try some meditation and/or prayer to help keep calm...and know that you and Mr Aire are in our prayers and vibes.... 1 1

He survived the plane crash he’s not going to let a little thing like heart surgery get him down. Prayers for the two of you.
Wilbur Posted February 5, 2020 Share #11 Posted February 5, 2020 If I tell you to relax, will you? Take comfort in the fact that this is a common and successful surgery this days. If he can have TAVR, recovery is shockingly fast. My uncle just had it to replace a valve at age 89. He was up and walking around 2 days later. They don't all go that way but the vast majority do. Best to you and Einstein, Aire. Things will go well and he will be fine and flying again.
Parsnip Totin Jack Posted February 5, 2020 Share #12 Posted February 5, 2020 Talk to the G-man, he had heart surgery and look at him now, yowza. Prayers for you and Mr. Aire. Worrying just stresses your immune system and does nothing for Einstein. Keep your health up. 1

maddmaxx Posted February 5, 2020 Share #16 Posted February 5, 2020 While he's waiting for his medical I'll teach him how to fly one of mine but you have to tell me what day summer is going to be this year in Rochester.
Page Turner Posted February 5, 2020 Share #17 Posted February 5, 2020 ...I wouldn't worry too much about them cutting his poor old wired back together bones, but if they do have to crack him open and spread the ribs, he's gonna be pretty damn sore for a while. This comes under the category of needless worry, because worrying about it won't change the outcome. Needless worry is non-productive. I know it's easier to say it than do it, but put your focus on something else.
