jsharr Posted February 10, 2020 Share #1 Posted February 10, 2020 Our troop hosted a memorial service for a former Scoutmaster this weekend. It was amazing to see the number of current and former Scouts and Scouters that turned out to say goodbye and share their memories of Mr. Wakefield. The church was full of Eagle Scouts whose lives he had touched, including RW Hampton, an Eagle Scout from Troop 1001 in 1973 who has went from working as a wrangler at Philmont Scout Ranch to a life as a cowboy working on ranches all over the west and a career as a cowboy poet and singer. After hearing all these men, both young and old speak so highly of Mr. Wakefield, it made me wish I had taken the time to know him better. http://www.rwhampton.com/ He sang two of his songs for Mr. Wakefield. 1
