maddmaxx Posted February 12, 2020 Share #1 Posted February 12, 2020 I have a nice outside door between my living room and the 3 season sun porch which is not heated this time of the year. Given time the cats discovered the door frame and the door seal and managed to rip out a chunk on each side of the door. Over the last couple of years I've managed to keep ahead of the cold air by using some self stick foam insulating strips to plug the gaps. Last week however I discovered that the house had flexed enough this winter to uncover a gap in the temporary seal. This is an energy hog situation. I finally broke down and bought the proper replacement seal for the door, the kind that slips into a grove in the door frame and has large flexible rubber seals to seat against the door. The moral of the story home mechanics.........don't redneck the job, get the right stuff.

sheep_herder Posted February 12, 2020 Share #3 Posted February 12, 2020 On a sunny day with the electric heater off, our 3-season room may be warmer than the house, even on a cold winter day. We heat ours, as this is where the dog crates are located. They were ready to return to 54F room from the 12F outside this morning.
