Prophet Zacharia Posted February 25, 2020 Share #1 Posted February 25, 2020 I can’t watch any of the content on my home DVR because of my current location. Why does traveling out of the country void your ability to access your own content. I’m signed into the app under my cable tv user account. I hope I have better luck on Saturday with Het Volk and can access the Dutch sites!

Or what if I was trying to stream it last night, after dark? Would that be more acceptable?
MickinMD Posted February 25, 2020 Share #9 Posted February 25, 2020 There have been late evenings in hotel rooms in Paris, Cairo, Beijing, Jerusalem, etc. where I've turned on the TV to get a sample of LOCAL TV but only once did I want to watch American news - and I couldn't get it. In 1996, my companion Phyllis and I took off from JFK Airport in NYC, headed for a connecting flight in Amsterdam to take us to Athens for the beginning of a 2 week "Aegean Odyssey:" Athens/Cruise/Istanbul. 15 minutes after we took off, TWA Flight 800 took off behind us from JFK and blew up over the Atlantic Ocean! We knew nothing about it on our flight. At Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam we wondered about the extra careful baggage and pocket checks, but were told nothing. After we landed in Athens, we were escorted to a conference room in our hotel where about 20 of us from our flight who were on the same tour were briefly told about TWA Flight 800. For the next 2 weeks, we kept trying to find American news channels that described the crash but all we got were discussions about examining the wreckage, etc. with absolutely NO information about the plane crash itself. Phyllis said, "I'm glad we got the package that starts in Athens and ends in Istanbul instead of the reverse because I trust the Turks to have better airport security than the Greeks." On the two flights back, Phyllis's knuckles were white from tightly grabbing the seat rails. The flights were unusually quiet. When we touched down in the USA at JFK, the entire 767 erupted in loud and long applause. My guess is few on that plane knew many details about what had happened two weeks earlier or what potential dangers remained.

But not really to fully "watch" something, as much as 1) force of habit, and 2) to unwind after go, go, going all day. But still, not acceptable for you! 1

I had friends running and at the race. TV news wasn’t much help. Facebook proved the most useful source of personal information.

As the manhunt played out, my wife was able to focus on the BBC news broadcast all night long and not sit in the bed simply suffering. That was a rough night, but having the news on with a developing story like that certainly kept her distracted enough from her own woes. I remember waking up sporadically all night to the BBC news intro tune. 4 hours ago, Prophet Zacharia said: Het Volk Hoping these early season events don't start getting cancelled. 12string Posted February 25, 2020 Share #14 Posted February 25, 2020 I had the same issue trying to log in to Hulu on my Nephew's TV, got a message that I can't do that unless I change my home to the current location. I was not about to move in to his house just to watch one hockey game! I only had to do it because they are all Rangers fans up there and the local TV wouldn't show the Flyers game. I pay for x number of screens per day, why should they care where those screens are?

You and PZ apparently don't read the fine print. It is funny, though, in a world without borders in so many ways, there are the artificial ones that are being thrown up around all these sorts of things. Remember those dopey region codes on DVDs??? Probably not. But there always are the less "legal" minded companies that play loose with those sorts of things. I assume big ones like Verizon or Comcast are locking it down. I wonder how Netflix or Prime or Disney + or similar are in Curacao? Have you tried them? They'd likely also be regionally locked Sling is "big" enough now to likely play be similar rules to Verizon & Comcast, but I bet several years ago, they were loosey goosey. Netflix does let you pre-download some stuff, so maybe that's the path. Or a VPN (but that seemed to be mentioned in you screen pic).
