MoseySusan Posted July 12, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 12, 2014 Our project for the week was to get this place ready for entertaining out of town family. So we redesigned an outdoor conversation space. We moved the dartboard from the wall with wood panelling to the stucco wall. So I put together this cork board with our wine corks. It was fun to make. The black border is chalkboard paint so we have a place to write scores.
KrAzY Posted July 12, 2014 Share #2 Posted July 12, 2014 very nice job! I would have had more fun hanging the compass... I would have put the N on the bottom or side to see if anyone would notice IF you need more corks, I have about another 300 I can send you
MoseySusan Posted July 12, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted July 12, 2014 I considered playing the with compass rose, but mr. wasn't having it. The box in the center might contain a cooler tub at some point if I can convince him of that. We also have a wall-mounted bottle opener that looks like a bulldog. Open the bottles in his mouth. I really like that feature.
UglyBob Posted July 12, 2014 Share #4 Posted July 12, 2014 Ok, I'm going to have to steal that dartboard idea. As for the cold box, you could get some foam insulation board and line it with that.

If the original frame is deep enough, you could glue down a fully round cork, but this one isn't, so we cut them and glued a flat side. I started out with Gorilla glue gel, but it didn't go very far, so I switched to a tube of Power Grab and it worked better for the cork surface. team scooter Posted July 12, 2014 Share #8 Posted July 12, 2014 Looks nice. You just need a string of fruit lights to make it perfect. I want to get fruit lights for our patio but the wife won't let me.

You will also need to make coaster and trivets with the corks as well! I love our pot trivets!

Thaddeus Kosciuszko Posted July 12, 2014 Share #16 Posted July 12, 2014 The person who threw those darts into that block of wood so they made a nice semi-circle pattern has some phenomenal dart skillz!

MoseySusan Posted July 13, 2014 Author Share #19 Posted July 13, 2014 Is the compass directionally correct? It's a compass rose, not a compass, so it's directionally correct for a map.
Randomguy Posted July 13, 2014 Share #20 Posted July 13, 2014 It's a compass rose, not a compass, so it's directionally correct for a map. Well, does west point west, and east to the east? Those are important, you know.

If the wall were a 2-dimentional map, then yes, because it's a compass rose, not a compass.

MoseySusan Posted July 13, 2014 Author Share #23 Posted July 13, 2014 A rose by any other name..... If it were a compass, the hand would move, but it doesn't. If it were a compass rose, it would be two-dimentional, and it is.

MoseySusan Posted July 13, 2014 Author Share #26 Posted July 13, 2014 No, we just used a jigsaw to slice them in half. Last night mr. beat me at darts two games to one. Each game came down to one bullseye for the win. It was fun. I love summertime.
