shootingstar Posted March 8, 2020 Share #1 Posted March 8, 2020 I had filed last weekend. Clearly the tax authorities probably start the check by using a piece of software auto-check certain key lines on the completed tax filing form. I know every Albertan would get pissed off they didn't get their $444.00 refund for climate action rebate in future years, which our province isn't participating in carbon tax. Not surprising 'cause of oil and gas industry overfocus. Red flags include exemptions for moving expenses when relocating far enough for one's (new) job. The audit /reassessment happens. It happened to me twice...because I moved twice in CAnada ...to different provinces. Rather idiotic especially for my last relocation... I didn't even use a van because so little was moved. To make a home, I had to buy enough..ie. furniture locally. Should have been the last person to audit..especially when I had been unemployed for months.
