Unusual Pocket Change

No. Do tell!

When he was a teen ager, my great grandfather sharr worked in a round house in Sherman / Denison, Texas.  This would have been post WWI in the late 1910's or early 1920's

My grandfather would ride the train from the station there to Dallas and he would sell apples, papers, etc on the trains.  When he got to Dallas he would head to coin stores and would buy unusual looking coins that did not cost more than face value.

Whenever he made change for a sale, he would refuse to use those "rare" coins as they were worth more.  He would then sell the coins for  a profit.

He was a self made man and worked hard for every cent he ever earned.

I found these in change from two different places. Not often that I find coins older than I am. Hard telling what the date of the Buffalo Nickel. The dates on them wore out easily.

That is neat - especially the buffalo nickel  I have a sleeve of those somewhere in my closet.  I should track them down.

It is getting rare to see pre-1970 stuff in circulation anymore.
