This is a good point regarding limiting social mobility.  It's not easy these days to cross over the border.  It's more of a hindrance anyway and it's simply putting up a gate.  If that gate were open, then you'd see a lot more cases moving up into BC.

Well, unless one is a shopper looking for deals in Vancouver...one has to be abit nuts right now to go across the border for fashion shopping or food shopping.  Amazon delivery is your friend.

Yuk.  It turns out it's like $50 a month and I need to at least double that for my internet speed.  That would give us some savings but not much.

Yeah, I don't know anything about the YouTube TV thing. When I go there, I get a pop up advertising it. I was talking about the CDC videos. I have a YouTube 'channel'. It holds my videos but they will never make YouTube TV.

Due to the virus my online hobby shop just sent me an email saying that their order volume was very high and shipments might be delayed by 1 or 2 days.  I guess people are staying home and stocking up on projects to work on.  This is a New Hampshire store.  At the moment I have no idea what it would be like to order from Hong Kong or Japan.  That stuffs on hold for now.

And now MGM resorts and casinos in Las Vegas and elsewhere.  They are going to keep paying all employees, even hourly. Good move that in my eyes makes then good. citizens.

“As the coronavirus pandemic has intensified in the United States over the past week, the people of MGM Resorts have worked to try to find a way to continue delivering high quality hospitality and entertainment experiences for our guests while keeping our employees doing the jobs they love in a safe environment. Welcoming people from around the world is what we do, and our employees have tremendous pride in their work.

Despite our commitment to dedicating additional resources for cleaning and promoting good health, while making difficult decisions to close certain aspects of our operations, it is now apparent that this is a public health crisis that requires major collective action if we are to slow its progression.

Accordingly, we will close all of our Las Vegas properties as of Tuesday, March 17th, for the good of our employees, guests and communities. This is a time of uncertainty across our country and the globe and we must all do our part to curtail the spread of this virus. We will plan to reopen our resorts as soon as it safe to do so and we will continue to support our employees, guests, and communities in every way that we can during this period of closure. ”—MGM Chairman and CEO Jim Murren.

It's pretty bad when the folks helping you get it. Disturbing. Evergreen Healthcare. It's an upscale hospital in the burbs if anyone is wondering.

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/15/us/coronavirus-physicians-emergency-rooms.html

"Dr. Jaquis said it appeared that the doctor had access to adequate protective equipment. “This was an area with an outbreak, so they were expecting and prepared. That obviously makes us more nervous.”

People are stealing PPE.  The hospital staff reported that visitors are wiping out the stations that they use when you go into a room that has a PPE station to protect yourself and the patient.  Hubby and I had a chat last night.  They need to shut the hospital down, except for staff and patients.  No more outside visitors.

Can't believe that people are stealing shit from hospitals. FUCKERS!!!!!

My husband is heading in to the war zone within the hour.

This is why I'm convinced there are a LOT more actual cases of COVID 19 compared to the 'official' count.   You can be contagions, and still not appear to be sick with this virus.

Infected people without symptoms might be driving the spread of coronavirus more than we realized

Yeah I'll be home.   I just wish it was warmer and the rain would quit, I'd go for a ride.

There's no doubt about this. This is the problem with this virus.  Because you can so easily and unwittingly transfer it to somebody vulnerable.  My 87 year old father is in an Adult Family Home and I just went to see him the other day.  For all I know, I have it and I just went down there and jeopardized his life.

In certain provinces, health authorities is asking people not visit their loved one in nursing home.

Doing my best to feed the good wolf today.  I am grateful for my husband, my clean home, and the beautiful meal that I will make tonight.

Have to vent about one thing, my co-worker,  She came to my desk.  She thinks this is all hysteria and fake news.  She touched her face, nose and mouth at least 7 times as she was at my desk.  Then she rearranged a couple things on the exterior of my desk with the hand she just touched her nose with.  Why do people need to arrange something in like a straight way.  Nerves?

She pissed me off though.  Most of the time when people arrange stuff in a straight line on my desk, I tell them "I liked it the other way, it's better slanted."

FUUUUCK, people are annoying me.  <fake smiles here>

Maybe you need something like this around the perimeter of your desk?  A six foot offset from the lunatics?

If you leave the Bowie knife on top of the sign laying on the desk that says don't touch anything the incidence of touching might go down.  It would probably be almost as effective as you wearing your full face helmet with the dark shild down.

OCD

Don't ask me how I know.  I would never rearrange anything on your desk.  Well maybe not.

You have every right (especially at this time) to tell them to not touch your stuff.

Feeling like strangling a few people today.  Luckily, for THEM I am practicing social distancing.

Fake smiles.  :D

Maryland had 12 cases last week and it's "at least 36" now.

In addition to things already closed, including schools, casinos, racetracks and some entertainment centers, today MD Governor Larry Hogan closed restaurants (carryout and delivery ok), gyms, bars, and movie theaters.

I'm stocked up with food for weeks, if necessary now, as long as I can find some beer and wine to go with it.

I have to rearrange the shelves in my new apartment's kitchen so I can organize all the cans, boxes, bags, etc. of food.  A small part of today's haul:

Went to the pool this morning, figuring it would soon be closed.  A pool, all that chlorine, safest place you can be.  Water was cloudy, they came and tested it - no chlorine.  Everybody out of the pool.

This afternoon, governor closed all the gyms.  8PM curfew.  No gatherings more than 50 people.  That's gonna shut down Masses, meaning no collections, no income, probably won't make payroll, so my wife's salary will e the first to go.  My stipend for the music, too.  That won't be good.  But way better than a lot of people.  We'll be able to pay our bills.

Taking my computers home tonight, not going to the office for a while, only if I need my lab

Rumors that Texas Education Agency (TEA) may shut down the public school system for the semester and transistion all student in Texas public schools to some sort of distance learning.

Not sure how this will work out for kids with single parents, families with both parents working, etc.

Texas has already cancelled STAAR testing, (State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness) for this semester.

My oldest son works for a school and is paid hourly.  They have told him he might want to find a job....  Not sure if this is short or long term.   Wife is salary, but not sure how long that will last if they close the school and go to online learing as she is a behavioural technician, not a teacher.

I can do most of what I do here at home, but I would need to take my computer home and figure out a way to find a quiet place to work.  Hard to do in an open floorplan home.

My daughter, a nurse at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, got sent home from work today. She has all the symptoms and should be tested tomorrow. My wife asked why she wasn't tested right now. Annie explained that a 1000 bed hospital with 1000 full beds and a staff shortage is a bit hectic...

This shit is getting real.

Prayers sent. Hope she’s Ok.

I just got an email note from my dental office, saying that all 3 dentists didn't attend that same conference in Vancouver.
