TrentonMakes Posted July 16, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 16, 2014 I wonder why none of Talansky's teammates are helping him ride back to the peloton. He just keeps drifting farther off the back, all by himself (more than 6 minutes behind the peloton at the moment).
Former member Posted July 16, 2014 Share #2 Posted July 16, 2014 It is strange to see a team leader get left alone like that.
TrentonMakes Posted July 16, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted July 16, 2014 Saw the explanation that he woke with a sore back - then I saw that he's abandoned. Now I see that Robbie Hunter has talked him back onto the bike! wotta race. The online newsflashes said that "the race has entered its lumpy phase". Road Runner Posted July 16, 2014 Share #6 Posted July 16, 2014 I think Talansky is showing a lot of guts. I like to think that if I were in his position, that I too, would have decided to try and finish the stage, whatever the outcome.

jsharr ★ Posted July 16, 2014 Share #8 Posted July 16, 2014 How is Lance doing? Is he still riding for US Postal? Also, how often should I sharpen my mower blades? Monthly, each season? How high should I mow St. Augustine in Texas heat? 2 inches sound about right.

jsharr ★ Posted July 16, 2014 Share #10 Posted July 16, 2014 I don't get it. Do you have a bermuda lawn?
Chopped Liver Posted July 16, 2014 Share #11 Posted July 16, 2014 Do you have a bermuda lawn? I will next week Not sure if it's a poorly kept tiflawn hybrid or a moderately well kept common....I may kill it and start over....maybe even go zoysia. Road Runner Posted July 16, 2014 Share #12 Posted July 16, 2014 Looks like Talansky will make it under the elimination time. He would have hated himself if he had withdrawn, I think.
TrentonMakes Posted July 16, 2014 Author Share #13 Posted July 16, 2014 Agreed. It must be really hard to make a rational decision on whether or not to continue while your back is aching, the peloton is slipping away from you and you've ridden well short of expectations. Once he finishes he will be happy he stuck with it. I forget what the time cut criteria is - 10% of the winner's time? (oh - I see it's much more complicated than that)
Road Runner Posted July 16, 2014 Share #14 Posted July 16, 2014 He made it. Cool. Maybe if he recovers and being so far behind, he might be able to get out in a breakaway sometime in the next 10 stages. It does seem that GS could have sent at least one rider back to help him. TrentonMakes Posted July 16, 2014 Author Share #15 Posted July 16, 2014 It does seem that GS could have sent at least one rider back to help him. I guess I'm hoping the explanation is that Talansky knew he wasn't going to compete on the day and told Robbie H. that he didn't want extra effort expended for him. If the Powers That Be simply chose not to support him - that seems too harsh to be believable.

I think he's hit the pavement a half dozen times in the first 10 days. I've had many of those wrecks where you get up and keep riding, but to have it happen day after day has to be tough.
