Ralphie ★ Posted April 2, 2020 Author Share #2 Posted April 2, 2020 So the first robin of spring would only seem to apply in the northernmost states and Canada.
Ralphie ★ Posted April 2, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted April 2, 2020 It looks like it should be first oriole of spring! Blue is breeding, red is wintering.
Further Posted April 2, 2020 Share #4 Posted April 2, 2020 During a cold winter the robins disappear around here. This year they hid for maybe a week.

I don't think they are rare but I am pretty new at this bird spotting game and haven't seen many. They definitely don't winter here. Blue birds are the really neat ones. They don't come out when the weather sucks. We were getting them at our feeder, the weather took a turn and they disappeared, today it started to get nice and one showed up. Blue bird day is indeed a nice day. 1
Ralphie ★ Posted April 3, 2020 Author Share #7 Posted April 3, 2020 We have or should I say had a lot of mockingbirds. They were sort of a pita. I wonder where they went?
Longjohn ★ Posted April 3, 2020 Share #8 Posted April 3, 2020 I saw my first orioles today. I think I saw some the other day but when they fly past so quick it’s hard to tell. I got out my feeder when I saw him, I’ll be able to get a better look at them when they are on the feeder. Last year’s picture 2
dinneR ★ Posted April 3, 2020 Share #9 Posted April 3, 2020 We have a lot of magpies and there are ravens the size of hawks. The bluebirds should return soon. This is an oriole.

I can’t see it from any of the windows, I should go out and do a walkabout and make sure it’ snot doing any damage. We rented a log cabin for vacation one time in a state park near Altoona. I woodpecker would wake us every morning drilling on one of the logs on the outside of our bedroom. I walked around to check on what he was doing and he had a hole big enough to put a baseball in it. I told the park ranger about it when we checked out.
