Popular Post Kirby Posted April 9, 2020 Popular Post Share #1 Posted April 9, 2020 Earlier today I was trying to take a picture of a bird in a bush outside my window and I noticed the bird was obscured by a dead leaf. This made me a little annoyed. I was hoping the bird would move to a different part of the bush so I could take a picture, but the bird flew away. I decided to move the dead leaf which had just fallen from some nearby tree and wasn't from the bush at all. This made me feel motivated. Then I got busy with work and didn't do anything. This made me feel a little accomplished but also a little procrastinate-y. Then during the afternoon it rained. For a brief period it rained a lot. This made me happy because I like rain. Then it got very windy which made me a little scared since a tree nearly fell on my home once. Then I started to worry about the dead leaf. Had it been able to survive the rain and the wind? This made me a little nervous. I checked on the leaf and it was still there. This made me feel oddly relieved. It is still very windy and now I am worried for my dead leaf. This had me anxious. I hope my leaf is okay. 6
Kirby Posted April 10, 2020 Author Share #2 Posted April 10, 2020 We had heavy rain, strong winds and even some graupel this morning and the leaf is hanging on. This makes me surprisingly happy.
Kirby Posted May 1, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted May 1, 2020 Update: We had a night of heavy rain and winds, but my leaf is still here. I've grown rather fond of the leaf.
Airehead Posted May 1, 2020 Share #4 Posted May 1, 2020 It is a lovely leaf. I am surprised it lasted in the wind. At least here it was howling.

As evidenced by the shift in language. The leaf is no longer a “dead leaf.” Your concern for its existence has worked a change in its identity. 2

MickinMD ★ Posted May 2, 2020 Share #18 Posted May 2, 2020 Don't get too worked up over the leaf - it's soul has departed. As the Klingons said when the crew of the Enterprise became the first humans to observe the Klingon Death Ritual and Captain Picard asked what they wanted done with the dead Klingon warrior's body, "Do with it as you like, it is no more than an empty husk now."

Tertiary thought: I’ve been watching The Frankenstein Chronicles on Netflix. The story speaks to animate life, but without a soul.
Popular Post Kirby Posted June 9, 2020 Author Popular Post Share #21 Posted June 9, 2020 'Earlier this week the condo had the gardeners trim all the shrubs and trees. This is good because trimming off that stuff keeps the plants from getting overgrown, But when I was out today, I suddenly got worried for my dead leaf, Lawrence. Had he been trimmed and carted away with all the gardening? This made me worried. I looked quickly and couldn't find Lawrence. This made me worried. But then I found him safely tucked in the summer greenery and enjoying a nice shady spot. This made me relieved and happy. 2 2 1
jsharr ★ Posted June 9, 2020 Share #22 Posted June 9, 2020 I think you should adapt this story to a screen play. It has everything, Nature, life, death, rebirth and just the right amount of levity. Make sure sheep_herder gets a spot in the movie. Maybe he can be the concerned friend.
