Solution?  My phone!  It has perfect reception, and I just push the video to the TV. BOOM!  Easy peasy.

Great! Have to get the porn up to speed. :hapydance:

I wanted to show my son a video on YouTube so was using the search function on the YouTube app on the TV.  If you have it you know how awkward it is to enter a name with the TV remote scrolling to each letter.

My son says dad stop, clears the screen and boom from his phone to the TV.  Yeah mind blown!

I bought one of those plug into an outlet Wi-Fi extendere and I connected the TV to that network and everything worked great for me.

I am using an old router as an access point and it is wired through one of those outlet things. If my wi-fi doesn't hold, I'll get another powerline adapter.

Interesting fact: Dish Network satellite boxes connect to the internet via built in powerline adapters.

Our Tivo in the main room uses MoCA, so even though it is right under the router, it just gets its signal and internet via the coax line in.

I've setup several mesh wifi networks in homes. They work really well to cover the entire house if you have problem areas. You don't have to worry about transition from the router to access point. It's a seamless hand off.

We had been given a Roku box by one of our daughters' SOs. It worked fine for a couple years then got flaky. My son kept saying get Apple TV. I was skeptical until my boss, who is NOT an Apple person, said how much he liked his. We bought one. Works well and you can use iPhone as a remote. If you hit a search box on YouTube or other app, it will buzz my phone and I can type in from there. It also allows us to mirror our phones to the TV. That has worked great for all the live streaming bands have been doing on Facebook!

And that's why when I built my home about 1 years ago I ran an ethernet cable from the new smart TV back to the router.   I didn't want any issues with Wi-Fi.

I have a faar stick.  I can control with the remote or the phone.  I always switch to the phone when having to type in titles.  When you are typing in "spank my white ass and tie me up" it is a lot easier with a phone.

Why doesn't it just autofill once you type in "sp"????  It should have the last several "spank my white ass and ...." searches saved.

I don't know when it happened  but at some point I became my parents and just fell behind current technology.

Even working in the tech field, it would be easy to fall behind on the home entertainment scene if not for my kids. My 2 girls were in tech support for Verizon for a while and my son just loves to research new tech and better ideas.

Even my daughter who is 37 said she has felt the tech burnout.

Would they like to adopt an aunt?

Ha!.  And I just noticed your avatar.  Awesome.

I had @sheep_herder's superstar pup Duke for a little while (cone of shame days), and now Charlie for a little while.  Super cute guy deserves some Cafe exposure!

That happens to all of us.   Then again my old turntable (that still works just fine) is now 'cool' technology again.

Back in 2016 my boss was upset with me at a staff meeting.  I asked why?  She tells me "I sent you a text 2 days ago about this."  I explained... I don't text.  If it's important CALL me.   I've gotten better about texting, over the last 4 years.   A while ago WoBG asked what's Twitter?   I told her you don't want to know.    We have a FB account but we almost never use it.  Neither one of us likes FB.  We don't even want to start any other social stuff.  People know... if its important they call us.   Besides... I told WoBG we are social distancing... lets keep it that way.
