I hope they're pouring lava today

My boss told me yesterday that they were going to be pouring lava, down at the Com Arts building and I should go watch because it's pretty cool. (Not literally).

I walked down there at lunch time, but they weren't ready yet. They had an industrial furnace fired up and one of the guys was setting a ramp up, into a pit on the ground. There was some obsidian-looking stuff on the ground and a couple of big chunks nearby.

I hung out for a while, but eventually my stomach won out and I came back to eat.

They're supposed to be pouring all week, next week, so I may get a chance to post video.

Why are they pouring lava? I have no friggin' clue, but I bet it'd be cool to watch.
