Made me think of Cheese

I was recently reminded that in late February 1972, Harry Nilsson's cover of Badfinger's "Without You" began a 4-week run at #1 on the American charts (so 50 years ago this month). 

I recall this was the subject of a Good-Natured Exchange of Ideas (???  ) with Cheese and a few others.... Having grown up with Nilsson's version, I still find it hard to get into Badfinger's, even though they wrote it.  Most jarring to me is the cut off "can't live" line, compared with Nilsson's holding of the word "live".  And I'm sort of "tied" to the song myself since I was born during this 4-week run.
