When we work overtime, we currently have the option of 1 1/2 pay or earning comp time at hours worked at time and a half. For the last 5 years I was about the only one who worked for comp time. I maxed out approximately 2 years ago. When we went to 12 hour shifts that changed the dynamic and now 10% of officers request CT which can add to the strain of shortage on available to work. My ability to earn CT was taken away a year ago because pay roll was getting confused with what to do with the automatic ot since I was already at the max and called the Director complaining. What should have occurred is $ for all hours over the max of comp time, not that hard. Instead he dropped my max by 2 weeks and said I could request reinstatement when I reached that number. I use comp time so judicially it took me 10 months to get to his number. (80 hours, 2 weeks). I put in my letter 5 weeks ago and was told by his main secretary he would let me know his decision when ready. Truth is it's in our benefits so there really is nothing to decide but I've been polite and patient. I just sent an email requesting an update because I'm facing my 3rd draft night without the option of earning comp time which is wrong. I've followed his instructions to the T. If he declines my request based on personnel shortages he's painting me into a corner. At this point I might respectfully resign. Agree?
