Remember the sad puppies living with the guy in the homeless encampment? They are now in a foster home. They were already well socialized and are now learning about house training. More pics will follow. They will be taught by PoohBear, another DSDA rescue who is VERY good with puppies of all sizes

On my walk last night - when, like @MickinMD said - the skies were blue (but puffy clouds) with thunder rumbling in the distance. A little while earlier, my wife looked down at the trail and was like "that runner left weird footprints". I was like, "I think those are from a horse", but it turned out it was two horses.

A Good Samaritan reached out to us via social media asking if we could help a homeless man's dog and her 3 pups. The underpass were they lived downtown was going to be 'scraped' by the City of Dallas and there was a concern the pups could be lost, injured or worse. We agreed to help best we could. The following day we learned that the man and his dogs weren't living directly under the overpass but across the way so the city scrape would not affect them. However, he was still in needed supplies and there was talk he might consider surrendering the pups and agree to get mom fixed. The 3 female pups were the only survivors from her 3rd litter of 12. The following week we provided cooling mats, a puppy corral, food, toys, and flea tick prevention for mom and pups delivered by the GS. Arrangements were made for us to meet him last Saturday when we hoped he would agree to surrender the pups so we could get them medical care, great homes and stop the the cycle of unwanted puppies. Elise Bissell and her adult son, Andrew, traveled to the location last Saturday where they met the GS. Dog food was handed out to the those with dogs living in the encampment and we met some amazing people there to help however they could. A church was handing out lunches when Elise and Andrew arrived. We ended up leaving with the three pups who were happy to get in the truck with air conditioning. The pups are well socialized with people and other dogs and seemed healthy and in good spirits. One of the pups had bumped her head and had a little scar but the injury had already healed. The pups went immediately to one of our foster homes where they slept, ate and had baths. Over the past few days they have really opened up and have become quite playful. We have named them after the Power Puff Girls; Bubbles (brown), Blossom (red) and Buttercup (Brindle). Their mom looks like a red lab mix with the cutest bobbed tail, a genetic trait she passed down to two of the pups. After giving their mom a week or two to dry up after nursing we will get her on the spay schedule to stop the flow of unwanted puppies. In the mean time the Power Puff Puppies will see the vet soon for vaccines. They have a little growing to do first as they are only 5 weeks old.

Good Morning! Last night Tails spent time setting into her foster home. She is in love with her foster dad, as you can see. This morning, her foster Mom reports that she is eating and drinking and continues to act more like a puppy . Foster Mom said she’s the snuggliest little girl, full of love and wanting to be held and adored. Tails is on her road to a full recovery, thanks to everyone that helped her with $$ and prayers. This morning she is following the resident dogs around but hasn’t started to play yet, that will come as she gets more energy. Keep watching for more updates, soon!

Meet Tails. She was found literally on death's door on July 20th.. My wife transported Tails from the emergency vet to the vet she is at now and was scared then that Tails would not make it. Tonight, in the words of one of our founders, aka David, we “did a thing”. This baby, now known as Tails (named after the sweet little fox in Sonic the Hedgehog)was found severely dehydrated, low blood pressure and hours from death, she is only 4 months old….. just a baby. When Tails arrived at the emergency clinic she was in a coma, unresponsive and very very sick. The doctors worked very hard and she is working even harder. The owners were unable to pay for treatment so they asked if we could save her… how could we say no? We are currently waiting on the doctors at the emergency clinic to find out the extent of her damage although we already know it will be expensive. Times have been hard lately, this heatwave is tough on the street animals, everyone is begging us to save dogs, fosters are burned out and donations have been down. The cost of living is going up, as are veterinary costs, life in rescue is getting harder and harder…. somehow we will make ends meet and save this baby, we have to, she hasn’t been able to live her life, yet. Right now, we are just hoping she makes it through the next few hours. Please keep her in your thoughts

...house plant that we "inherited" from a friend when she moved away in like 2002 or so. It's one of those plants that is hard to kill, but we've come close over the years. We can't quite find the perfect spot for it as our house has strong southern exposure, so it thrives and then weakens throughout the year. Any way, my wife randomly tries new spots, and for the last several months, it has a non-direct sun spot on the Northside of the house. It's about a foot to the right and a little in front of the area we have my dog's food bowl & water. One day I noticed the plant rustling, and looked over to see my dog eating her kibble. She must have bumped it. Anyway, I started to notice the plant rustling periodically, so I actually started paying attention more, and was shocked at what I noticed. My dog GOES OUT OF HER WAY to brush against the plant. Over and over. She is the type of dog that grabs a mouthful of kibble, walks away and drops the kibble on the carpet to pick through. She chooses the "good stuff" to eat and leaves the boring stuff on the carpet, and then returns to the food bowl for another mouthful. During that process, you can watch her veer a little to the right to make contact with the plant before reaching the bowl. It's wild to watch and also to try to figure out why she is doing it. It isn't a very "strong" plant, so it can't be too similar to being pet by us, but, she does like to wander through liriope grass, so maybe it gives her a pleasant tickle? In any case, the plant isn't really thriving there, but there is now no way I am moving it either.

@Kirby I played with the oogs last night and this AM. This litter if very fast and playful. Remi likes them. Romeo wants them to have the zoomies with him and they are not quite their yet. Ginger hates puppies.

I mean, a dinosaur can be an emergency, right? And in the dino world, there had to be an OOG, right? I watched a documentary about cavemen and their pets. Heck, they domesticated dinos and used them for doorbells and disposals and the signal to let you know when you get shut down your dino at the rock quarry and everything.

We have OOGS at casa de sharr. The ice cream litter is with us for the weekend. First time away from mama Sadie. We have all 5 right now, but two are going to other homes today or tomorrow.

This popped up in my memories on the book of faces. 8 years ago today. Ryan is about to turn 18. Wade is 21. Sparky crossed the rainbow bridge quite a few years back.

Holy Moly! Teeny Penny has delivered three beautiful itty-bitty babies!! Yep! Another mom with newborns here at DSDA. Penny & Peanut (guessing from a prior litter) came to us just a few weeks ago after being dumped in this awful heat in a very rural area with little chance of survival We had a feeling Penny was pregnant and X-rays revealed 3 tiny spines and skulls. We now have "Bitcoin, Buck and Lira" ! Happy to know you sweet teeny ones!
