Cyber attack- nearing the final line

University of Winnipeg network still reeling from 'cyber incident' | CBC News

Near the end of the school year.  So students can't see their marks.... Not sure if they can email within campus network, to at least see their marks.  Hope they find workarounds.  I got my transcript by snail mail. It's not totally impossible when a network goes down since some of us lived ..prior to email, Internet.

Now with Copilot embedded in MS Office ...more opportunities for students to copy and paste draft text from AI and not even quote original sources...'cause there ain't none.    How will students be motivated to do true secondary research, reading and deep analytical thinking/problem-solving????

You can activate it and some (not all) functions, can be like ChatGPT:  ask for an idea and it will mine the "net, give you some draft text.  Or feed in a report and it will spit out a draft Powerpoint with bullet points. No reading by you. However a smart person is SUPPOSED to vet the usefulness / modify the powerpoint  for whatever is needed.  Which person SHOULD read the report also.

I'm oversimplifying:  basically less original thinking/reading/analysis  from scratch by the person. Or just go to ChatGPT direct and have it spit out an answer.
