Further Posted April 24, 2016 Share #1 Posted April 24, 2016 My buddy and I went to see Jessie Colin Young in Syracuse, about 20 miles up the New York state thruway. We took my car, a 1967 Chevy Belair. The ride up was uneventful and the concert was great. On the way home the car started to knock and lose power, we coasted into the service area a mile or so before our exit. Asked the guys in garage (they had service stations at the rest stops in those days) about leaving the car there for a day. They said no problem and helped us push it off the ramp and into the back lot. Told us to show up at the back gate with some beer and they would open the gate and let us tow the car out. We called a few friends and got somebody to come get us. The next night we showed up at the back gate with a borrowed truck and a twelve pack. A different crew was on but we told them our tale of woe and they opened the gate and helped push the car out. Gave them the beer and towed the car home. Only time I ever got out of paying a toll, and all it cost me was a twelve pack........ and an engine swap.

Ralphie ★ Posted April 24, 2016 Share #3 Posted April 24, 2016 Here is a version where you can see that fantastic saxman, Jim Rothermel, who Uncle Google says died in 2011.
