It happened so fast, I didn’t have time to even ask for prayers and vibes! The little sister of one of my favorite baristas has been dealing with severe cystic fibrosis for quite some time. She was on the waiting list for a lung transplant and the situation was getting dire. 

Sunday afternoon she got the call they might have a match. She was in surgery by 8 pm. The surgery took 12 hours. Yesterday morning they were cautiously optimistic. By this morning, she asked if she could sit in a chair for a bit. The staff at UNMC had never had someone sit up that soon! 

Despite all the joy for her, they have been very mindful of the young man that passed who donated the lungs. 

I have only met the sister a couple times but she is a very special person. She has a presence about her. Hard to describe until you experience it. Grateful she has received this opportunity!
