  1. It's been really windy here.
  2. Gawd that movie was horrible. I don't know who the director had sex with or paid off, but to see that film get awards for anything was laughable.
  3. Why haven't you taken it then?
  4. There was never a good substitude for the 120mm main gun that I used to fire, so I quit cold turkey. Anything less is inadequate for home defense.
  5. I forgot to mention that I put in a PR on Strava for that stretch of road.
  6. Better than being interested in WW3
  7. Have you weirdos actually thought about leaving whatever 3rd world country you're living in, and moving to the 'States where it's nothing like what you describe? Some of us are already here and we kinda like it.
  8. Last year, was out on a 60mile solo ride. Had about 7 miles left to home, and I noticed the tops of some stormy clouds. Figured I had 'em beat. By the time I was at 5miles to go, I could tell that I was riding parallel to it, and looking behind me now, there was another branch of clouds coming up on me. With about 4miles to go, I heard the first 'crack' of lightning. Figured I could 'just' beat it home, but I was starting to hammer it all the same. 3.5 miles to go, I witnessed lightning branching overhead, and felt the first drops of rain. 3 miles, starting to pour...several 'close' lightning bolts. I was actually scared at this point, and hammering it like a sprint finish against Mark Cavendish....absolutely killing myself with the effort. 1.5 miles to go, light hail begins...fortunately not wind driven. Still several close strikes in the area. I was pumped with adrenaline at this point, shaking even. Finally get to my apartment complex, and just as I enter the breezeway for my place (shelter at last) a VERY close strike hits, which would've made me fall off the bike had I still been on it. Whew. 15minutes later, a heavier section of storm rolls through, and just blasts the entire area with stones. I had to move my car under the protected car wash area to keep it from getting dented. I couldn't imagine having to ride in that....So, I didn't beat the storm, but I sure beat the hail!
  9. They are good, but a heavy blast of sugar. As easter candy goes however, they're at the top. More or less sold year round now tho....in fact I'm not sure if they ever were seasonal...
  10. I flirted with homebrewing a little last year, and it just boiled down (yay! pun!) to a lot of time put into making something I could buy on the shelf at a craft store. It's like deciding to be a hunter when you live next door to a meat market. So much stuff out there to try nowadays, you could either brew stuff you know and wait for the agonizing "well it's okay but such and such is better" taste test of your own brew, or pick up a mix pack of beers at the store and try them all in a weekend. Probably a good idea for somebody who doesn't have easy access to good beer stores, but as been said, there's so much more out there now than there was before.
  11. Driving to Knoxville in the am to go pick up a crib and other baby stuff from a friend.
  12. It doesn't seem to be stopping them from posting at least.
  13. Been buying Mavic Aksiums a few years in a row now. Fairly bombproof, maybe a bit on the heavy side, but it doesn't stop me from throwing down... I just bought a set including tires for $270. It amazes me how much $$ people blow on wheelsets....probably the worst ROI of any particular component....
  14. What a fucking idiot. Who the hell doesn't learn the proper pronunciation of that name?
  15. Do you bow hunt, or is that just archery hobby?
  16. Sunny, 75 and a light breeze. I'm gonna get in about a 12mile ride this afternoon just to loosen the legs a bit. Saving myself for my first Metric of the year tomorrow.
  17. If there's life yet to live for me, I'd want Hawkeye Pierce in there pounding my heart until I come back. If somebody like him says that it's time to call it, then I'm good with that.
  18. Everyone knows that the proper way to descend an escalator is to first, draw your gun. Then, grab the dude nearest you, and use him as a shield as you then fire upon your pursuers. Once he's been riddled with bullets, you throw him down the escalator at the other guys coming at you from the opposite escalator. Then, you leap over the railing to the other one and ride it up while initiating suppressing fire on the guys above you. Finally, you jump onto the middle gap, and slide down it to the bottom, and make your escape while briefly pausing to spray full auto in the direction of your pursuers and also at random targets in other directions to create casualties and attract other security officials who, upon their arrival, will be momentarily confused as to who is who. Then you can make good your escape by putting on a hat and reversing your jacket. It's a good idea to switch shoes, because people notice those above all.
  19. Why are you in such a damned hurry?
  20. Probably about the time that I could watch pretty much whatever I wanted due to the advent of DVR'ing, Long duration Youtube videos, and the ability to download tons of movies and tv shows illegally, is probably the same time I stopped generally watching late night programming.
  21. He was, and Colbert yes is very smart...but Letterman aged out of this thing years ago, Leno fairly recently as well. I think Colbert and Stewart are both starting to dim. And the formula of the shitty opening monologue and the slugfest just trying to get to the first guest has been unbearable with all of them. Fallon's probably the first guy I've watched just for 'him'...and not who the guests were. Who was the last guy who had that....Carson? Did even Carson have that?
  22. Indy... They've said that Colbert's character will not be the one hosting...as I've never seen him out of character, I don't know what the man is like. But their biggest problem? Jimmy Fallon. That kid is talented with music, voices, a good interviewer, exceptionally up on pop culture if not a part of it himself due to his SNL background, etc.....He's only going to get better IMO. His pre-interview segments are often incredibly hilarious (especially the ones where he just banters around with his announcer guy)... Letterman was at his best in his last years when he was with NBC prior to his CBS switch. He never took anything from Leno who was only marginally more popular simply because of exposure, and both of them have always been only 'competent' interviewers. Letterman was always a funnier guy than Leno, but him being older was slowly taking fans away.... I never liked Conan in any respect. His humor was often dull and other than the fact that he just looks funny, I didn't get what he was about.
  23. Why would they teach you something you already know about yourself?
