  1. Hopefully you didn't find any King Termites!
  2. I worked on my car's rust spot a little. I stalled while the drill battery charges.
  3. So did you hit any big surprises like lead paint or asbestos or rotting plumbing like you see on those renovation shows all the time?
  4. Wow - that is scary that I agree completely! You have COMPLETELY REDEEMED YOURSELF! But you left out Dumb and Dumber (see sig line ), Office Space, Spaceballs and others. And if you are a true aficionado, you need to start including Dracula, Dead and Loving It, Mel Brooks' greatest unappreciated and undiscovered secret.
  5. You are correct, Sir! I always get that wrong.

    Cheese

What are those like, scooter? Crunchy?
  7. McDonald's needs to branch out into healthier food, maybe even with some veggies (perish the thought!). Their salads are much, much improved over the cheese-laden messes they used to be. I used to think there would be a good market for a "healthy fast food" place, but with business costs being so high, it makes a lot more sense for existing establishments like McDs to come up with some decent menu items. They'll figure that out eventually.
  8. Those "Windows tablet" things look fairly fragile, and the keyboard seems like a joke, so yes, sounds like you did good.
  9. I am quite lucky in that my brothers and sister are very similar to me, i.e. great people! I agree it is VERY hard to find friends as an adult. Especially for us "different-drummer" types. So I really appreciate it on those rare occasions when I find someone I am compatible with. I agree with Pokey and Suzie - cycling and yoga are probably the most fertile grounds for finding like-minded and therefore compatible people.
  10. I did buy a two year old Accord with 33k at a Honda dealer - got a fairly decent deal because I knew a salesperson there. But I later found out it was in an accident and had some pretty significant body work, and it was heavily perfumed to cover the previous owner's smoking smell, and also had a few cigarette burns on the upholstery and carpet. (I have vague memories of seeing a clean Carfax at the dealer but then later when I had the unlimited Carfax membership a year or two later when buying the del Sol I found the accident. "Certified Used Car" is a pile of crap! It means absolutely nothing, except that they try to charge you more. Mine had bald tires until I made them replace them. They had no answer for how a "rigorous safety inspection" missed bald tires. The worst part was on the drive home it puffed out HUGE amount of white smoke, but I now suspect it actually was blowing the crap out of the engine because the previous owner must have driven like a little old lady. Thankfully it ran well after that "Italian tune-up", and has continued to be a darn good car and now has almost 200k on it. I am really on the fence aboot whether my next purchase will be new or used.
  11. Too spicy?! Man, is there no hope for America?
  12. What aboot those $299 Windows tablet/laptop thinghies they advertise on tv? Any good?
  13. I like Toshiba for laptops. I had an old Windows 95 tank at work that lasted from aboot 1996 to 2008 or so. I paid $250 for a demo model, but it has a very low-powered AMD E1 CPU, I think. Good enough for web surfing and Youtube, so far anyway!
  14. I like the devil went down to Georgia.
  15. I bought the del Sol from cars.com - it took a lot of searching to find just the right deal. I've heard of people having good luck at Carsense, nice dealerships that are sort of like new cars dealers. I am probably looking to buy soon, and I am not looking forward to it at all! Dealers charge way too much, and it is too much work to buy from private sellers.
  16. Aboot a year away for us. So where will the money go? I guess there are always places!

    Damn you all!

I was thinking of you as I was working on my big rust hole. I need to decide between fiberglass or screen and bondo. The dang thing is aboot 6 x 6"!

    Damn you all!

It was sunny and 60s today. I've been riding around topless (del Sol) and doing other outside things. 70s tomorrow!
  19. Anyone named Ralph is ok in my book. Even if they are also named Waldo.
  20. Yup - I am afraid they did f up my rear wheel last year. Sure, it is 25 years old, but it broke about a year after they "trued" it.
