  1. I finally found someone to take over my Monday classes, so I can use Monday to catch up of things that seem little but are really big So hopefully this means I'm really back! Between teaching, running the studio solo, and teaching teacher training I have 0 spare time
  2. First of all hot yoga is stupid, so quit that stuff. You are probably tighter at the end of class because your alignment is off and your muscles are tightening up to stabilize joints that you are abusing in hot yoga!
  3. These snow storms are a money loss for me, but I suppose the silver lining is a day to catch up on work and study.
  4. If I was doing this for health reason I would drop dairy first! Have you thought about seeing a nutritionist?
  5. that poor dog is guaranteed hip issues. not a fan of breeding.
  6. https://soraj.wordpress.com/2009/06/27/nirvana-parinirvana-enlightenment-buddhahood/
  7. no funeral for me, but anything by Krishna Das as my ashes are tossed in the woods!
  8. that's great DH! I have been thinking about getting back to weights - 2017 is the year I get back to taking care of myself! I've been getting myself to more yoga classes and trying to teach less, so that's a beginning. My arms are too skinny and I know I have lost strength, can't let that happen!
  9. about chemo accompanied one of my yoga students to her oncology appointment - she begins chemo on Friday after having a mastectomy a month ago. I will take her to her appointment Friday and keep her company. She makes me a stronger person! We have been talking about starting a support group at the studio, maybe with meditation and restorative yoga as well.
  10. actually Parinirvana - the Buddha died on this day - full and final Nirvana, no more samsara!
  11. I am planning a road trip - just waiting till all your painting and flooring is done - I hate painting I would imagine you have the strength for headstand - it's upper body and core strength, really one should be able to hold headstand with only about 10% of your weight on your head.
  12. I totally agree - have you tried any Eastern modalities?
  13. Sooo much, I feel like I'm never completely caught up! But, instead, I'm going to Ikea to buy a desk for the studio. I had to get rid of the one we had when I took the office down as it was too big. Who wants to come to Ikea with me? It's about 1.5hr drive!
  14. Have you ever talked to your doc about the night sweats? I keep my room pretty chilly and have a fan with a remote - so when I wake up sweating, on it goes. I also now sleep with a sound machine on and my sleep has improved.
  15. We had raincoats but they were never yellow, and our "galoshes" (such a weird word) were gumboots and were black.
  16. Never! Please come to my classes!
  17. I read about your crack on fb, I may need to hire you if I end up purchasing something that needs work!
  18. Actually it's been so long I forget everything that's happened since I was last here I have been teaching a yoga teacher training - it's a heck of a lot of work, but fun at the same time. I have 12 students in the training and I believe at least 9 of them are going to be awesome teachers - including my daughter! I did some remodeling in the studio - removed some walls that made up an office which was taking up studio space. The landlord took the wall down and one of my teachers is a retired contractor, so he helped me with electric stuff and floor patching. It looks awesome, happy I made the decision. Kinda ironic though, increased the space and this January sucks . Never any real rhyme or reason, just have to deal with it and keep moving ahead. A friend of mine is going to take over keeping track of my expenses etc - I have tried three different ways for three years and have failed - not my forte for sure. Happy to hand it over and barter! I hate tax season! The woman who owned the mansion I share is planning on putting the house on the market, so, I have been looking to purchase, but, I am poor, so, this means my budget is really low, but, it is cheaper to buy than rent around here - rentals are crazy. I have been looking and have only sent one little house that would have been perfect, but someone had already put an offer on it. I saw some townhouses today, but I dont' know how I will handle living with other people living so close to me. There were three for sale, the one unit I just didn't like, the other unit was next to the playground and pool and I will see the third at an open house on Sunday. I have also looked at a few other little houses but they all need so much work and that's scary to me. My daughter and her bf adopted an dog!!! Yay! She is about 8 and is a sweet thing - shepherd, lab mix. Her name is Juniper. Last weekend I had all three dogs for the weekend (Nixie, and my son's dog Augie) and they all got along really well! My son is for the first time, dating a girl I do not care for. I encouraged him to go back to his therapist which he has done, and I truly hope she talks him out of this relationship. I hope he wakes up soon! Nixie is still the best dog ever, and the best buddy ever!! She brings me happiness and contentment, she's like a good glass of wine So how have all of you been, and what has been going on? What have I missed??
  19. Just let her eat what you eat, and if she fusses, tell her it's special for kids - that's what I did and they bought into it. I agree that bribing with sweets is a terrible idea, in fact I would remove sweets and replace it with fruit/dried fruit that's "special for kids"
