  7. the heaviest hammer he has ever made is 15 lbs. The ideal weight for a hammer is heavy enough that you can let the weight of the hammer do the work and you don't have to put your arm into it very much. His son was striking with a 10 lb hammer most of the time. Bigger work takes a bigger hammer. His hammers that I have handled have a nice balance and swing very nice. Not hard to control.
  8. Is this crazy color one of the new "features"
  9. Mark has stuff from over 700 years old to modern. He has been collecting for many years. I got outbid on the hammer after I left so won't get that one. Got this one instead. Zack Royer makes nice hammers. It was great to see how he does it. I have tried several times to make a hammer but had trouble punching the handle hole. He drills a small guide hole. I think that will make it much easier to keep it straight and centered. Will have to try that. some of his hammers on ebay
  10. Indiana Blacksmiths Association hammer making demonstration at our neighbors shop. Mark, the owner of the shop, and I do the blacksmith demos at the 5 Medals reenactment. I had to leave early for our church auction. When I left I had the high bid for the hammer at the silent auction. IF I win I will show the finished hammer to you when I get it.
  11. But are the Airedales unfriendly enough to keep the neighbors away? I heard they are like labs and love everyone.
  12. @Kirby @petitepedal Those antique china cups and bamboo tray could also be used to serve your afternoon tea. @SuzieQ 2 of the bags are Puerto Rican coffee. The other one is Dominican. All are very good coffee. If you want me to bid for you just let me know how much you want to spend.
