So we’ll get the time-honored classic Tuesday night football game. Where is the player’s union on this? They are rescheduling games for one player’s (and team’s) benefit while making the Steelers play two games in 5 days. They should, at a minimum, flex the Steelers game versus Washington to Monday night. You know they aren’t going to make the Ravens play THEIR next scheduled games on... checks schedule... this coming THURSDAY night. Actually, scratch that, they should mandate Steelers/Ravens be played Sunday. There’s more to a team then their starting QB, they have back-ups and practice teams and expanded Covid rosters for a reason. Play the game. Punish teams that don’t follow Covid restrictions.

I learned yesterday that my BIL’s sister’s boyfriend is currently ill with Covid. He’s an anti-masker and was calling it the “Election-infection”. I don’t know if this will change his perspective, but I hope it won’t kill him. He’s a BIG guy with some related health issues....

Take out pancakes sounds like a horrible idea, and self defeating of a lazy morning. Lounging around, drinking coffee, making bacon and pancakes sounds infinitely better than leaving the house to do anything. Now, pancakes delivered COULD change my mind, although I think I’d prefer them hot off the griddle.

Correct, but if there is a mandate* (like at my job) that you wear a new “shift mask” daily, and you have every guest take a clean new mask, you’ve achieved that goal. *ignore my previously voiced cynicism that it’s, at least in part, a cost and mask resource-saving measure to have the employees go to their divisions to get masks. We’ll focus on their official intent. I bet if you worked there, it would be a different story. I know 2-3 people at work who wear N95 masks that they bought themselves. One is my unit head (🤣) who early in the crisis yelled at another worker for wearing an N95, claiming he was wasting precious resources. But before long he was wearing one, too. I think it sends a horrible message as a leader, as in “I wear an N95 because what we provide for you is insufficient, but good luck....” But I digress.

I guess it doesn’t matter when they play.

Second time the Steelers have had their game delayed by another team that didn’t follow Covid protocol. The first time it ruined their bye week. Forfeits with lost game checks will be the only potential deterrents to keep players out of the clubs.

I thought about this this afternoon. I now believe it is a cost savings and resource savings intervention. If 3/4 of your staff show up in “shift masks”, they will be unlikely to ask for a new one at their department. If they give one to everyone at the entrance, everyone will take one.

We used to do that, but that was when they locked all the other doors to the building and forced everyone to use the main entrance. Recently, they reopened entrances for employees (ID card access doors) and decentralized mask distribution. So now, if you enter at the main entrance, as an employee you keep going, as a guest you get screened and masked there.

They should open a farm. Or at least a convenience store.

Yeah, my experience with them was in college in Baltimore. But that was a great semester when they opened near campus, free Snapple teas and free 6” sub coupons in the student paper, with no rules prohibiting you from taking 20 copies of the paper.

With the ubiquitous Wawa, why would they bother? Around us, we have both Sheetz and Get-Go options. I guess that is why they are #35.

I’m not sure a different procedure or even policy for employees versus guests is a “double standard “. I don’t actually know what my company does for people who show up at reception with different types of masks, but I know they do hand out masks at the front door. Unless you’re staff, then you go past that checkpoint and go to your department wearing whatever mask you wore in, but then cannot wear a cloth mask at work. You must change to a “shift mask” that they hand out daily.

When I was in college, Royal Farm was expanding it’s locations and market share aggressively. Now, they’re an afterthought in the convenience store discussion. I still have no idea what they actually do aside from collect a tremendous amount of money. Do they serve and actual role, one that adds value?
