  1. In the medical field, they say there’s money in shit. But somehow the doctors and plumbers don’t get it directly from the waste, we have to pay it to them instead.
  2. I think it’s because they’ve been mandated by congress to put some huge amount of money up-front into pension funds, and aren’t allowed to raise rates beyond inflation.
  3. I think differences in opportunities IS systematic racism, put into play. Different quality of public education, different economic needs of a family, different expectations. This isn’t just a coincidence: “At $171,000, the net worth of a typical white family is nearly ten times greater than that of a Black family ($17,150) in 2016. “
  4. I’m not a PBR fan, but that’s the immediate reaction I have to seeing a Heineken (outside of Holland).
  5. Am I hammered, or is she hammered? She looks all likes of sideways. I had Southern Tier 2xIPA with lunch.
  6. Red Stripe, any Mexican beer, any session style IPA, Guinness, the list is endless.
  7. In Boise, the first day of Idaho's special legislative session erupted into chaos before it began. Dozens of unmasked protesters, some of them armed, shoved their way past state troopers to pack the gallery overlooking the state's House of Representatives. The clash was a manifestation of the anger and frustration from a vocal minority of far-right Idahoans that has been compounding over the last several months as the state has navigated its reopening Huy amid the pandemic. To enforce social distancing, the gallery area above the House chamber was restricted with limited seating. But after the confrontation with state troopers, which resulted in the shattering of a glass door, Republican House Speaker Scott Bedke relented and allowed protesters to fill every seat. The response stands in stark contrast to 2014 when dozens of advocates pressuring lawmakers to pass LGBTQ protections were arrested for standing silently in a hallway, blocking access to the Idaho Senate chamber. On Monday, an Idaho State Police spokeswoman, Lynn Hightower, said she wasn't aware of any pending charges against protesters. The following day she released a statement saying that "Idaho State Police personnel determined they could not have made arrests on the spot without elevating the potential for violence," and that an investigation was ongoing into any criminal behavior "that may have occurred." Since then, Bundy’s been arrested twice for trespassing at the legislature.
  8. There’s a certain irony attached to the idea that protests against excessive police brutality may have contributed to the shooting of a man in the back, yes? Is this Cop just better trained than the Wisconsin cop?
  9. I don’t mind if they kneel during the anthem or do whatever form of statement they wish in an non-intrusive manner before the game. But it’s a business, and at some point the games need to happen, or the player who won’t play leave the teams, or the leagues end. I understand the Bucks decision to protest the one game, given their local ties to the events unfolding, and respect the NBA’s decision to cancel all games that night, but it can’t be indefinite shut-down. I feel the NHL got shamed into a doing “something”, which ultimately comes across as lame, meaningless and disconnected to the events. The NHL can be pro-diversity and still play their games, which are, after all, quasi-literally in a bubble in Edmonton and Toronto.
  10. And then there is Bayer, who made poison gas.
  11. I think there is a difference between making weapons of war as demanded by your government, and employing slave labor. So I see Porsche and Mitsubishi who made tanks and airplanes, apparently without slave labor, on a higher plane than say Conti and VW, who did use prisoners. Now, you can probably argue that the companies themselves were forced by their government and army to employ such tactics. So it becomes a fine line between being complicit versus being strong-armed.
  12. We did the bullet train, round trip between Tokyo and Kyoto in 2018. And this train to Enoshima. We have light rail at home, probably last rode it in January or February.
  13. After the shootings he was just wandering around the streets with his loaded rifle, yet law enforcement didn’t find it necessary to shoot him in the back. Or even arrest him at the scene.
  14. I’m not sure why the Republicans chose to swing at Cardi, but she countered.
  15. He likes to watch. I can’t keep it straight, has he resigned, or awaiting being fired by the board?
  16. I would use the word “surreal” to describe the year. Financially, it’s been good, I’ve been working TONS of overtime. But it’s been odd, driving with no one on the roads, going to work with masks on, avoiding contact, etc. Working from home at times, getting to spend more time with the kids....
  17. I think the camo makes the hat look fat.
  18. I wear my original one daily, around the clock.
