  1. Excellent. Hawaii's governor has instituted a mandatory 14-day self-quarantine starting Thursday of all people traveling to the state as part of efforts to fight the spread of coronavirus
  2. Ralph, I don’t think that applies to when you are at home surrounded by only your germs. Wash your hands immediately after getting home and then be yourself while at home.
  3. I honestly believe doctors reached out to the Governor and said if they didn’t leave them open, the hospitals would be overrun by people needing hospital care for complicated withdrawal. We don’t have the ER or hospital capacity to accommodate that, so keeping liquor available became important.
  4. I like it. But this season and last are like watching a version of the news. Curb your Enthusiasm Better Call Saul The Outsider The Valhalla Murders Ozark season 3 just come to Netflix
  5. What’s the current rate of doubling for the virus, three days? So by April 1 we could easily be at 100,000 cases in the US, and even more with more testing?
  6. Today was my first day at a grocery store since 3/14, before the big rush for food happened. I was surprised at the shelves remain very sparsely stocked (unless they were full this am and then looted before I got there late afternoon?). I was also surprised there were so few people there. Do you see well stocked store? Long lines? Or depleted, ghost-town like situations?
  7. I’m on the opposite extreme. Tomorrow is consecutive day number 21 of work for me. I’ve lost track of days of the week. Next day off will be 4/18.
  8. I saw videos of the road leaving the Maui airport, lined with protestors against people arriving for vacation. Their anger makes sense, stay home.
  9. I assume that someone likes to golf? I read that hydroxychloroquine is now impossible to find in pharmacies.
  10. Oh, I’m not saying we shouldn’t test. Just that the deniers will misinterpret the results of those tests to strengthen their resolve. i have a coworker who today was talking to a 15 year old, who halfway through the conversation revealed her mom, who she lives with, is waiting for the results of her Covid test. Would have been nice to know those results pronto (and that mom was high risk at the start of the conversation!).
  11. That was Covid-01. He’s Old School, OG.
  12. Apparently it’s worse than “you’re on your own”, as the Feds are outbidding States in their attempts to source equipment and PPE on their own. During a conference call with governors on Thursday, Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker told Trump his state was denied three major orders of equipment because the federal government had outbid him. "I'm not quite sure what to do with this, so I'm just going to throw it out there for you," Baker told Trump on the call, according to Bloomberg News. "We took very seriously the push ... that we should not just rely on the stockpile, that we should go out there and buy stuff and put in orders and try to create pressure on manufacturers and distributors, and I gotta tell you that on three big orders, we lost to the feds." Baker, a moderate Republican, added, "I've got a feeling that if someone has the chance to sell to you and to sell to me, I am going to lose on every one of those." Trump chuckled at that and then said the federal government probably offered the manufacturers a better price. "Price is always a component of that also," Trump said. "And maybe that's why you lost to the feds, okay, I'll tell you, that's probably why."
  13. Vocalist Kenny Rogers, who dominated the pop and country charts in the 1970s and 1980s with a string of sleekly tailored hits and won three Grammys, has died. He was 81. Rogers “passed away peacefully at home from natural causes under the care of hospice and surrounded by his family,” a representative for the singer said in a statement.
  14. I don’t think that’s a bad idea, to be honest. Or at least give them the option to go. Infection control in a jail or prison would be difficult. Release them, if not infected, to go home to be out of the mass containment their life currently is.
  15. No, people will not see larger infection numbers as a sign of just how contagious the virus is, at least not initially. They will use larger confirmed infection numbers to claim it’s not as dangerous as advertised, until the death rate spikes as hospitals become overrun. Then they will take it seriously, but it will be too late.
  16. I think it’s more likely that people are cut from the workforce when it’s observed who is essential and who are not.
  17. Gas stations, grocery stores. Hospitals. Liquor stores and beer distributors. They had planned to close these, but feared overwhelming the hospital system with people in withdrawal. Restaurants for take out only. All else closed.
  18. Someone in my my office building is thought to have it. We sent a woman home sick today with a cough. A coworker’s husband heads the covid response team at a neighborhood hospital system. So risk factors abound.
  19. Rush hours in the afternoon this week was like a late Sunday morning drive. Mornings were even lighter.
  20. So they’ve been watching TV all week, and will flood the grocery stores on the weekend? I don’t care, I am working this weekend, too, so it’s a moot point for me.
  21. Why will the weekend be so much more nutty? So many people have been working from home, surely they’ve snuck out for grocery shopping during the week?
  22. It took 3 months for the first 100,000 corona virus cases to emerge worldwide, 12 days for that number to double.
  23. Corona virus is spreading fast.
