  1. Yeah it’s a constant struggle for me. My weight had been creeping up and I had gotten into some bad habits. I was seeing it on the scale and with my blood glucose. I had to start getting strict with my diet again & more importantly portion control. Don’t give up, when you get on a roll and start to see some improvement it’s good incentive to keep it rolling. Focus on that first five, then the next five instead of trying to lose 10.
  2. Yeah they can be sneaky bastiges...
  3. That would be really scary for me. We had multiple units within my dept minutes away and with mutual aid other local PD’s in tens of minutes. The city I worked had an un incorporated area patrolled by the Sheriffs dept. I remember driving by a deputy engaged in a felony stop by himself so we backed him up. After we were code 4 he says thanks, my back up was 20 minutes away! Shit we could be anywhere in my city in 20 minutes. Two of mine happened so fast I couldn’t have talked my way out of it. We had multiple units onsite too.
  4. Uh yeah a couple of times... and yeah.
  5. The males can be territorial but we share the beach with them at LaJolla. Just give them a wide berth and they won’t do anything. Often times lifeguards have to protect people from themselves as they think oh how cute look at the seal... chomp!
  6. Seals are a complete PITA out here. They are protected but really abundant in our local harbors. They tend to follow fishing boats and are known to take fish right off your line. They can swamp moored boats and take over docks. We snorkel off LaJolla cove and the place is swarming with seals. My daughter had one swim between her legs. At one point she and I were swimming side by side and a seal appeared out of nowhere and stopped inches from or faces looking right at us. And in a flash it was gone!
  7. Wet feet do suck but I never had water proof boots in the Army. We just carried extra socks & changed them frequently, or dealt with wet feet & immersion foot. Some guys got trench foot but I didn’t, must have been all the surfing, my feet were used to being wet... I do have some waterproof boots now but they never get wet! 😂
  8. Dropped off the take off parts from my old bike and as I walked in saw a sweet black Ritchey on the stand! He’s got most of the parts on it and said he’ll need another day to get it dialed! He said plan on Wed but it could be done late Tuesday. I did clean my wheels but seeing dirty tires on that immaculately clean build was kinda odd. Oh well I’ll just have to get it dirty!
  9. Left over beef stew & an apple. String cheese & nuts for later.
  10. Looks nice, I’m not sure if classic is the right word but that’s what comes to mind. Or maybe classy!
  11. My Subaru is older and doesn’t have the lane centering feature but my wife’s Subaru does. Yes that feature is annoying and we keep it turned off. But the other part of it is handy in that if you are cruising along and come up to a slower vehicle the system will slow you down to keep distance that you set. If you move left to pass the system picks up the clear lane and speeds back up to your set speed. It takes a minute to trust the system but it does works well.
  12. I’m not suggesting anyone do this but I find I’m not hungry in the morning but would choke down something because your supposed to... My fasting BG is always elevated in the AM and drops around 10-11 AM. So I just skip breakfast and eat an early lunch and then a light snack around 3 PM. This seems to work well for me.
  13. My Subie has it and when I was driving to Bakersfield often it was really handy on that long slog on the fwy. Set it & forget it.
  14. Lately I have been craving the low sodium V8 with a couple of shakes of. Cholula. Good stuff!
  15. 25 Miles with the missus today (Sun). Went on a long walk and then took the pups out Sat, probably 5 miles combined.
  16. What’s Up cycling Fanatics!!!! Jesper reminds me of my cousin’s husband when he was younger! He speaks the same dialect of Dutch my family speaks so when he talks to his son I can totally understand him. I have watched these, I’m a subscriber. The MTB event on his channel is the same event I did, Big Bear Gran Fondo Except I didn’t do the 100K race, I did the 30K fondo.
  17. Yeah or pepper spray. Not too many bears out my way! 😁
  18. We had an old farmers field as our playground. BB gun wars, BMX tracks, forts dug into ground. We also had the beach where we surfed at a really young age.
  19. Yeah we cant shoot them in the big city...
  20. Nope, no non lethal rounds and people walking around with guns isn’t advised. Many people carry large sticks and I actually have a nice 24” bamboo staff but haven’t been carrying it lately.
  21. I don’t think they were interested in us, none of them were more than 50 lbs and weren’t going to take us down. They wanted my 16 lb dog Jack.
  22. We have had small dogs get snatched right off the leash. They aren’t afraid of people out here.
  23. We were walking Jack last night in our neighborhood and a car stopped and the driver warned us of coyotes nearby. As he pulled off we look up and there is a coyote about 10’ in front of us on the sidewalk staring at us not moving. Fuck... So WOChrisL picks up Jack and at that moment it dawns in me the guy said coyotes, not coyote. I quickly turn around and another freaking coyote was stalking Jack from behind as we were focused on the first one! This one was like 5’ away and in that low stalking crouch so I clapped loud and charged it giving my best war cry. It bolted so I turned back to the first one and ran at him clapping and yelling and he took off. I then see a third across the street looking at me so I charged him too and he followed the others. We have had numerous coyote sittings in my neighborhood over the years and have had numerous cats & small dogs get eaten. Jack was almost added to the list...

Ohh good point. I don’t say “coffee” as they usually have 3 different roasts and will pour you the darker roasts. I get the Veranda which is their light roast. If you ever go back just ask for a large Veranda black. It’s not as burnt tasting as the other roasts.
