    Fargo

Underneath the orange bar tape is a handlebar called the woodchipper. http://salsacycles.com/components/category/mountain_handlebars/woodchipper
  2. Strong work. I would not have thought of using duct tape like that. Engineers?

    Fargo

The bar tape is actually orange, though yellow would have been cool too.

    Fargo

    Almost ready to roll.
  5. We're expecting snow this week
  6. I loved my SS, both of them. In the midwest on flow trails, things were great. In the rocky mountains, we have climbs that are 5-10 miles long and super steep. My knees could not take it any longer.
  7. I've ridden mine quite a bit this year. I've learned to appreciate riding pavement and it's a great bike for it. I joined a group ride. I'm always the only person on a steel bike with a rack and 40C tires. I'm really looking forward to having a Fargo again.

    Grant Hart 56

    Way too young. http://www.msn.com/en-us/music/news/husker-du’s-grant-hart-dies-at-56/ar-AArU0ud?li=BBmkt5R&ocid=spartanntp
  9. It should arrive Friday. I'm debating whether I should keep my Casseroll. I love that bike. This will be my second Fargo. I sold the first one and my Mukluk a while ago. I have a 9zero7 now.
  10. I'm pretty sure I filled up in July. Should get me through until Oct.
  11. That Awol looks pretty nice. The new Fargos can run 29, 29+, and 27.5+ tires, so I'd like one of those if I can swing it. The 2018 has a purple one in their lineup. I've also heard they will be releasing a boost fork.
  12. The most delicious bike you'll ever ride.
  13. I love riding a SS, but my knees and these mountains have other thoughts on the topic. I have no space for a lot of bikes, three is probably beyond the max. At the end of the day, I'll either stick with my Casseroll or pick up a Fargo if I can find a good deal on one. But damn that Kona sure would be fun to ride!
  14. Spoken like an engineer, let science help you answer the question. Whatever happened to the beauty of irrational behavior and the love of fat tires? So maybe this should be my road bike/bikepacking rig?
  15. Those tires are way too skinny. Can you squeeze a 29x2 in there? or at least a 700x40? I'm worried you might tip over.
  16. I sold both of my single speeds earlier this year. I'm thinking about a new bike. Possibly selling my Salsa Casseroll and getting something for bikepacking. Every SS I see for sale has me thinking. This one caught my eye. Kona Unit. SS, big wheels and tires. Three bottle mounts on the frame and two on the fork. How realistic is it to buy a SS bikepacking rig?
  17. What a great photo! I saw a total eclipse as well. I have to say it was amazing. As a kid I saw a partial and we did the pinhole thing in school. It looked a drawing on paper. It was kind of underwhelming. The total eclipse was incredible. Watching it through glasses was okay, but when it went total and I took my glasses off, I couldn't believe how cool it looked. The temp dropped 10-15 degrees. We could see Jupiter and some stars. I loved it.
  18. I had an old Specialized fork years ago. It was a Rockshox with a specialized sticker on it.
  19. You just need the correct cable.
  20. I'm not anti-technology. But a device to turn your lights off, one of the simplest tasks on the planet, seems absurd. I'd rather ride my bike than blow money on shiny things from amazon.

  22. I'm going with evolution on this one. I witnessed my grandparents live into their 80s and still have the ability to flip a switch using only a finger. I don't drink the amazon Kool-Aid.
  23. Is your finger broken? If so, you have nine others. All of which will turn your lights off quite easily.

    Nickelback

    Nickelback? sounds like you're winning.
  25. Salsa Casseroll. 700x42 tires. A Fargo would have been awesome through the National Forest, but the Casseroll did just fine. I could certainly use a bigger cassette. I think I have a 12-28 on it. Disc brakes would be nice on the rough descents as well. Cantis are rough on my hands.
